Do you need a mouse driver? I'd be over the moon with wifi and a working CLI.

Once you have the mouse driver how are you going to handle input? Touchscreen as a trackpad seems the way to go on that front.
That's how it worked when it worked, so i'd assume it'd still work like that. Might also be able to use the stick(s) too...

This is a super-old version. Please download the latest tester12 package and, if desired, create your own buildroot package to add your own programs at (again) the repo linked above.

But, yes, the mouse is broken. Most can't even get mouse mode to activate at all.
Sorry, total noob to this kind of stuff.
Where would I get the latest tester12 package and where is the "repo linked above?"

tester12 packages available several pages back (which is what "linked above" means, as threads start with the oldest on top) and the buildroot repo is here.

First, there's no networking at all.
Second, it doesn't run a distro based on anything, instead it's custom built using buildroot, so the apps it comes with are the ones you can use.

what actually can be done with this >?<
There's no point, it's just to boot Linux on the 3DS. You can't do anything with this
Pretty much. SD card support is half-implemented, and it's basically dead again. My builds are slightly more mature than Xerpi's, but not by much.

In fairness, Linux on 90% of the platforms its been ported to is pretty useless with very little driver support or software that has been compiled for that environment. Since Linux fanbois can't make it into the mainstream, they try to make up for it by porting "Linux Everywhere!" It an attempt to make up for actual achievement like Windows made when it won the Desktop Wars decades ago.

What can you do with Linux as a OS I've never used it before. I know it's like a old version of windows ..
That's not really how it works. Linux distros had virtual desktops years before Windows, and Windows still doesn't have tabs in the file explorer in 2020 for example. So the retarded OS is Windows.
They're just not the same. Want to play games? Go Windows*. Don't need anything really proprietary and want freedom and things that are not limited to a company's (bad) decisions? Go Linux.

*Some Linux fans could whine about Linux being able to play games, but honestly just getting GPU drivers to work depends heavily on what distro and what GPU you choose, and these problems are really less present on Windows. And then there are games that just don't run on Linux (even with wine/proton) so really, Windows is the OS you want for games, as much as I'd like Linux to play them.

In fairness, Linux on 90% of the platforms its been ported to is pretty useless with very little driver support or software that has been compiled for that environment. I see it more as a "Doom everywhere, Linux everywhere too" thing. Not as a "let's get Linux everywhere because we're salty Windows won some war".

Got the firm file, but the folder "linux" is in a dead link. :( How do I get it?

they need to have a strong line up on the launch titles too. I think they should move metroid prime 4 to the next console because by now it has been quite a while and there's no release date scheduled yet
  • realtimesave @ realtimesave:

Pretty sure anyone buying the switch just for that got duped
  • realtimesave @ realtimesave:
    for $200? rofl.
  • realtimesave @ realtimesave:
well as far as metroid prime 4 is concerned, the next system probably is similar enough to the current gen they can probably easily just slap it onto a next gen cart and call it good :P

The switch was about 350 in 2017

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima took the stage at the outset to reveal that Switch will launch globally on March 3, 2017 for $299.99—earlier than some had expected at the price many suspected. https://time.com/4632820/nintendo-switch-nx/
