Yeah I could really see the potential in this app to be absolutely incredibly well executed- if you give it some elbow grease.
A couple of features i'd like to see:

Custom Categories that are created based on subdirectories names inside /badges/, icons for the categories could be derived from a specifically named PNG inside the subfolders (probably named something like categoryicon.png)

A simple progress bar on the bottom screen would be nice UI wise, a background on the top screen behind the splatter of badges would be nice

"Attempting to write extdata" after installing all of my badges (I have 999 items in the 'badges' folder and no official ones on my 3ds) causes the GYTB to crash and say "an error has occurred forcing the software to close." What am I doing wrong?

I'm having a similar problem actually. I have 1733 badges to install and it gets stuck at "trying to write to extdata".

Did you get badges from the actual app at all?

You can only use 1000

Okay, but after installing the first 1,000 will I be able to install more or is that the max amount that can be crammed into the badge box?
Quoted from official GitHub: "
  • Q: Something didn't work!
  • A: Make sure your homebrew entrypoint and boot.3dsx are up to date, that the badges folder is present, and that it contains no more than 1000 badges."
Also, I'm more than certain that the # of badges depends also on how much you got in the actual app but don't hold me to that

Once you install the first 1000 and then run it again to install the remaining 733, the previous 1000 will disappear and you will get the new 733.
This is because the badges are saved in the SD, like with Arcade Badge, and not in the system memory.

awesome thanks, and there are no resize options i guess? so like they will appear the size i have them in png yep?
If they are big images, GYTB automatically splits them up into smaller badges but if you put them together after initiating GYTB, they look like they haven't been changed at all

Two questions:

1. Does running the Badge Arcade still remove the custom badges?
2. Is it possible to use badges to run non-system apps?

  1. Yes, the Badge Arcade will say that "Your badge data is corrupt and will be formatted."
  2. No.
