Is there anyway we'd be able to use any possible theme dumps by BBB or whoever or would they be a different file type than roms? They're cheap so not really fussed I just wondered.

For anyone wondering:

• The new launcher boots to 8.1 emuNAND just fine
• Updated successfully (my 3DS had already downloaded the update previously, so I just applied the downloaded update from the System Settings)
• sysNAND still at 4.5 after the required restart post-update (for you paranoid folks)
• Booted to a "Setting up Home menu" message
• Had to accept a new User Agreement
• Greeted with a "Theme Shop has opened!" message which guided me through a mini-tour of how to change themes
• Got a Notification describing the new Home Menu Settings button where the Brightness button used to be basically stating that I'll be changing my themes from that button from now on, too
• Successfully updated/booted to GW3D 9.0.0-20U (in case you haven't figured that out by this bullet point)

So to summarize

• works as advertised

Just updated. Works for the most part, but seems to have some bugs:

1) The '3D' doesn't light up anymore
2) I lost Monster Hunter which came preinstalled on my 3DS (no longer on SYSNand)

Yeah I don't think there will ever be a fix for the SSB home exit problem, because the game basically calls for a system reset, not like other titles which just close the running app and return to the previously running home menu.

The real worry at this point is exactly when the company will stop making Gateways. Machines with 4.1-4.5 firmware (that aren't owned by someone who already has a Gateway) are getting rarer. At some point they will be so rare that the company won't find it profitable to make Gateways. At that point they'll also stop releasing updates and we won't be able to run anything that needs a newer firmware.

Frankly, I'm surprised that they're still making and supporting Gateways as long as they have been. The supply of 4.1-4.5 machines can't be that high.

We really need to hope there's an exploit that lets Gateway run on newer firmware--because if they do, the company will stay in business longer and we'll all get updates for longer.

Just create 3 fakes internet connections on your sysnand, so you won't be able to update it by mystake.

First of all, People are buying and reselling Their 4.1 - 4.5 3DS either due to a need of money or not playing their 3DS as much so there's always some on the market. Second, your forgetting that they are also trying to win over customers who bought competing clone cards (which they are doing as of late). Finally, your forgetting there are also old 3DS' that are pre-4.1 that can be updated to 4.5 that are also in the wild (although rarer). If there ever comes a time where GW finds an obstacle they cant overcome through FPGA updates, they can release revisions. Although they arent saying it they have to be looking for a new exploit because lets face it, everyone loves more money.

I mean after that you will be able to update your emunand without worries. Or you can also let the console download the update by itself in sleep mode (in emunand ofc) then apply it.

Isn't is possible to install lower FW such as 8.1 directly from ROM?
I thought that these Gateway updates support lower FWs as well ( maybe I am missing something).
