OK thanks so you can then update your systemnand to 11x after the last point and GW will work in systemnand but also you can use emunand if you want. Also sorry but do you need the data region pack on the route of your sd card as well it mentions nothing in the instructions.

Hey Reecey, I'd still recommend emuNAND for 11.x - There's a few threads on users that upgraded their A9LH sysNAND to 11.x and lost some functionality. Ninty implemented a checks for title versions, so downgrading specific titles (NFIRM, etc.) is not possible any longer (unless devs already figured it out).

I don't think I'm going to use GW's implementation personally either, since atm it locks users into using ONLY their A9LH and down the road I may want to dual-boot into Luma, RXtools or something else. Right now I'm in a holding pattern until GW has a full release, and some of the temper's here get a better tutorial out on how we can do this properly for CFW and GW co-existing.

It is weird that in the changelog says that you need to update first to 10.x
But Gateway says 9.2 works just fine. Or is this only with O3DS?

I have n3ds with sysnand 9.2(downgraded one) with emunand 11.00
1) So to make this gateway a9lh thing work(not so familiar with a9lh thing)do i need to format my emunand with all those cia installed? Or i can install this a9lh thing,without doing anything with my existant emuand?
2) If i don't need to format or do something like that with my emnand,after i would install this a9lh,i will have my emunand worked just like before without need to reinstall all cia.'s?
3) is there a chance to brick console with that timemachine thing?
4) ok so after a9lh is installed,i heard that stable 3d on n3ds won't work at all? uh oh that's a baad thing then
5) do i need to backup anything to make gw a9lh work? before actial installation
6) So after all those a9lh work installed,it's like sys nand and emunand will be united? like on system reboot i always will get to gw a9lh emunand?

1. In theory, if you backup your emunand, you can then flash it to the NAND after the A9LH install, so your installed CIAs will work.

6. as it is still beta, there are quirks, buit basicaly yes. I am no master A9LHer, but after installing A9LH using the Plaitec guide, I copied my Emunand to Sysnand, copied the GW arm9loaderhax.bin and launcher.dat to my SD card, and I am using the 3DS without emunand.
7. For luma3DS there are write protections, for protecting the A9LH from deletion. The previus GW alpha did not have it, so for now do not update with GW A9LH until told othervise. Use Luma for that.

did read the Pailect guide a few times before but never bit the bullet and went ahead and do it. (I have good soldering knowledge, could do a hard mod (not sure I have a fat SD I could spare though) but would rather not go that route)
It still seems kinda complicated to me, since I have unlinked nands on my AUS new3DS (9.0 sys 10.3 emuGW) and did mess with AGB/TWL firm before.
(I do have a sysnand and a linked emunand backup, but my GW saves were created with for an unlinked emunand (which I have a backup of too ))

1) sounds like I should just backup my saves (I have no knowledge about switching the use of GW saves from one nand to another) and format sys/emunands a couple of times (should clear any AGB/TWL Firm stuff, right ?) (I don't use 3ds games as cia, just .3ds/.3dz)

2) I don't even know which NNID works on my 3DS, I can just backup that with decrypt9 or something ? which option is that ?

any help would be greatly appreciated

It's not too bad if you dual-boot with another CFW. For example, Luma 3DS removes all the downgrade version checks from 11.0.

This might sounds like a silly question, when they said downgrade to v2.x does that mean downgrading the firmware version from 9.x-10.x to v2.x?

yes it does mean that, you need to be on 2.1 to get your OTP, since it uses a bug that was fixed on 3.0.

Yes. It's a temporary step so you can get your OTP. You upgrade straight back afterwards.

If you only want Gateway, without emunand and CFW, then follow the Plailect's guide to the end. Then back up the Luma3DS arm9loaderhax.bin from the SDcard, download and overwrite it with one from GW website and it should autoboot into the GW menu on boot. At least for me this works on O3DS.

Just don't update the sysnand with the GW A9LH until is is reported safe.

you should probably do everything exactly as told(besides cloning emunand to sysnand), then only replace some files to use Gateway once done.
