so I don't have a gateway yet but I'm getting one soon - but I put arm9loaderhax.bin (the one that gateway made) in /luma/payloads and renamed it to down_gatewait.bin and when I press down on boot I'm just getting a black screen
Shouldn't I be seeing some sort of gateway logo/menu?
For some reason it won't work with No Screen-Init a9lh payloads. This might be your problem, assuming you have the launcher.dat at the root of your SD.

If you have an updated sysnand, the only way ive found out to not get a black screen with having an emunand with it is to boot up the gateway payload, wait until the light comes on on the card and eject it, then proceed to select boot sysnand after putting the card back in. Only way that works for me.

So anyone having same problem: using GW as payload (x_gw.bin for example) and when exit from System Setting it revert back to Luma (can't open OSD menu anymore)?

That's not a problem. It's just how the 3DS works. Exiting "System Settings" always reboots the system. Luma's "persistence" compensates for this by rebooting to the same NAND (unless you hold A, then it goes back to the default). You would need to hold your hotkey while closing System Settings, so you reboot back into GW instead of Luma. If you want GW to be the default, you could use BootCTR9. I have uploaded boot manager configurations for those interested. For everything. BootCTR9, CBM9, Arm9Select, and Luma3DS.

Hey guys.. where is the "included" bin file in the archive? It's not in the archive I downloaded. Or am I missing something.?
*edit* found it. Thanks

Getting black screen issue using old version of a9lh and updated sysnand. Even with the cart ejected, I still get a black screen. Do I need to update my a9lh using safeA9LH? Or is it an issue with Gateway? This is on a new 3ds running latest update.
*edit* updating a9lh fixed the black screen issue for me.

So yeah you'll need to change to a screen init version of a9lh.

Is it a safe and preferred way to follow Plailect’s guide and just replace arm9loaderhax.bin after that?

Definitely. No one has yet confirmed if it is safe to downgrade with GW TM; plus, with GW A9LH intallation, you're stuck with their own version of A9LH, making it impossible to, for example, install payloads.

Having a bit of a problem with the Gateway Time Machine. I have wifi configured on BOTH SysNAND AND EmuNAND. Yet, when I try to use the Time Machine, it tells me:

"FATAL ERROR:
Please configure wifi before downgrading"

I already DID that. What the fuck?

It works like a charm to me. It's just I'm afraid I might brick. Do you have a New or Old 3DS?
