This is GBATemp *shrugs*

Nah it's the Temp 3DS section.
99.9% is "I'm basically going to call the name of that prohibited site where you can download warez but I do it in such a way that it's borderline breaking the rules" and the 0.1% is actually interested in homebrew and handheld security.

It's a crying shame.

BrewMan, installMii. They're not so alive though :/

Aye I got those,
Dead as a dodo unfortunately ;-;

this is purely used for piracy, with no other uses. Am I wrong?
TheCruel won't be linking it explicitly to any specific titlekey database, you are required to provide one on your own. The database you use _should_ be one from your specific 3DS, and you _should_ use this purely for reinstalling titles (Or creating CIA's? I'm not sure if it supports that) of your own legit purchased games. If YOU decide to use a titlekey database of games you don't own, then it's your choice to use it for piracy :)

Suggestions inbound...
- Region display (for example, a notifier if the game is US/EU region, etc) and filter (to filter out all games not from your region)
- DLC, themes, and other non-eShop-game downloads
- Automatic key updating, but download it from a link from a user-created text file, so the link isn't built in to the software.
- Virtual Console filter

Yes, you need CFW for its signature patching
Alright, good thing I have it installed. This is so awesome!
If only we had 3G/4G on our 3DSes, we could pirat- I mean backup games anywhere we want...

EDIT: NVM, you could just make a mobile hotspot on your phone with 4G!

This is why this 3ds app will not be stopped by anyone:

  • Because it will be opensource (if its not already) which means open source technology is not illegal in most country's. In other words Nintendo's lawyers, and the mods on this website can't really do shit.

How Nintendo can prevent this from happening in the future:

  • Have every app, game, video, pics loaded directly server side. That way the video game console aka the receiver loads everything from the server (Sony anyone?).

Edit: all of you devs and video game supporters need to shut the fuck up. Bitching about the console being hacked does not help Nintendo make it harder for hackers, If you all care that much than you need to give Nintendo tips about how to stop this from happening. Everything needs to be loaded server side!!!!

I installed all the keys using a CIA I found here and download games thru eshop directly. Why do u think this is better? I guess I'm missing something...

Oh god, no, just no, wow, this is a horrible reply.

1) Open Source != "not illegal". What Open Source means is anyone can download and use the source, and if the original project gets taken down, technically someone else can throw the code up elsewhere, until it gets taken down, etc, repeat. Nintendo's lawyers can go after anyone they want, as long as they believe there is some illegality occurring, will they win? Maybe, maybe not, but that doesn't preclude them from going after someone. As for the mods on the site, they can do whatever the hell they want, it's their site, their rules, their choice.

2) That's a stupid solution, you want to know how easy this is to fix? Add authentication to the CDN. Console is required to submit an auth token/username/password/whatever, server verifies it owns whatever content it's trying to download, server proceeds to serve the file. This can actually be done ON THE CURRENT SYSTEMS, there's no need for new hardware, just a new version of the eShop, and changes to the server.

Out of region games, games no longer available via the eShop search feature, games that were never available via the eShop search feature, etc. Same reason you'd use CIAngel over TikDevil as it is.

The code being open source has jack shit to do with whether or not Nintendo can send a C&D or actually take legal action. What matters is what the code is doing, not the way the code is licensed. There are also other ways Nintendo can stop this from happening, to make it so you always have to be connected to the internet to play games on a console, especially a handheld, is one of the most retarded ideas I've ever heard.

I don't think it'll happen.
If it was an opensource eshop clone for homebrew I'd be all over the project.
People seem to forget that piracy is wrong.
People seem to forget that what's wrong is subjective. Whether or not it's problematic is a different story.

PSP, plagued by piracy.
DS, plagued by piracy.
3DS, facing the same fate.

I wouldn't be suprised if the 3DS would attract as much shovelware as the DS due to this.

It is what it is. Maybe Nintendo needs to take a page out of Microsofts book.

Give everyone who pirated a game a free copy of the sequel to that game? Seems like a bad idea (Note: If you pirated Windows 8, the "Free Windows 10" upgrade gave you a legitimate Windows 10 key)

Same. While I think this is a pretty nice app, this is purely used for piracy, with no other uses. Am I wrong?
Whaaat? No, you are totally wrong! I'll definitely use this to download games but I'll NEVER play those games (then it is not piracy).
I just want to test if this app works as it should, close my 3ds and let it resting on my desk and never touch it again.

Right.. I cant think of any thing than piracy yarrr
