Hello,
I have a question: does FreeShop download and install .CIA files? I am afraid of playing online with the games it installs...
It downloads directly from Nintendo's servers, don't worry you'll get no bans
EDIT: Except if you play online a game that hasn't officially released yet

It doesn't download CIA files exactly, but it's essentially the same as downloading and installing a CIA file except the files come directly from nintendo
Thank you very much.
So I can be sure I won't get banned playing online with the games downloaded from FreeShop?

how do i get games to show up?
Search for "3ds title keys" and scan with freeshop the qr code that the page will provide you
pls staff don't ban me...

Thank you so much!
Last question: can I install it on 11.2 (with CFW)?
Yes you can

Can i use it with my Gateway? also...i know its illegal, but is it real world safe? i mean i dont want real world (police) problems

Yeah, though if you don't want to use eShop, you can check the game list in freeShop to see if the update is available there. It's possible you don't have the title key for the update though, so may have to use eShop.
So what is the difference between updating from eShop and updating from FreeShop?

Im not thinking about updating, but downloading full game i dont own legally. I men i anlready have illegal games on my pc already, but i download them from some website...but i dont know how this work, this seems its directly from nintendo?? Idk? ca nomeone explain it to me?

For example, you're not able to update games whose region does not match your 3ds'

the freeshop allows you to download from nintendo's own server,

the nintendo servers look for a so called ticket on ur device, wich allows you to download them. freeshop puts those tickets in ur 3ds, and so you can download from official shop afterwards too(once you downloaded it

Oh, ok, I understand. Is it safe anyway to update them using eShop, assuming the region is correct? Do I risk to be banned?
You won't get banned, and yes, you can update from eshop if the game is the same region as your console, but you will lose any foreign dlc you have installed (DLC installed with freeshop and custom themes you may have installed)

Great thank you! Anyway, why should I install foreign DLCs? And what do you mean with custom themes, how can I install them on FreeShop?

by my experience, connecting to eshop invalidates all nonpaid dlc.
and by foreign they mean, if you, with what i assume is a european 3ds, downloaded a game thats only been released in the us, for example. that games dlc would vanish and have to be reinstalled after entering eshop

Ok, thanks a lot, so basically the rule is don't update foreign games with eShop. And what are those custom themes THEELEMENTKH was talking about?

By "Foreign DLCs" I mean DLCs that you've downloaded with freeShop, and there's a PC application that can convert a CHMM2 theme into an installable .cia for use on the 3DS homemenu
