I don't particularly care how you release stuff, but I just don't like someone using adfly, considering the fact that adfly is known to me as "Malware 101" in both the results (not your homebrews but the other reason adfly is popular) and the page it generates. Feel free to continue using adfly, but I'm using AdBlock on it and the antiAdblock-blocker userscript.

EDIT: About those Tweets and no respect, it would go to show you're the better person of them. To me both your tweets and those PM messages imply you're more willing to pick a fight than attempting to sort it out peacefully.

They cannot backup friend code and Mii Plaza stuff, can they?
Since ctrnand dumping/decrypting (over a year ago) there hasn't been anything you couldn't back up and restore, one way or another. How old is the extdata dumper thread now (for Mii Plaza stuff)? The last bit (and most recent) would be twl_nand saves and such. There are several tools nowadays that let you do it easily from homebrew.

How about something ON TOPIC now? Will the file dumped with this tool eventually allow sound to be enabled on our boot animations (bootanim9)? If not, what exactly will it be used for that can't be done now?

DSP dump is just for homebrew usage (namely CIA builds of homebrew, like RetroArch emus and ScummVM). Won't help much with bootanim9 since I believe that has limited service access and cannot use it.

CIA homebrew has been using CSND for a while, which has many problems (like sound continuing to play while app is suspending/sleeping). DSP is the proper way to use sound which all commercial games utilize. It's just a file that sits on your SD card for when it's needed, not a huge deal.

Just have to say; Why did this thread instantly turn to Rinne, other than how Rinne released a closed source version of this?

And if you think AdFly is cancer, try Linkbucks :P

Read OP, there is a mention of AdFly links in there, and the dev that is known for having AdFly on all their HB is Rinnegatamante. Aside from that, Rinnegatamante has also been shtiting on GBATemp lately (#gbatempcancer tweets on their Twittter) and as such some users felt that they wanted payback. I don't care on the entire matter, and think both sides have fair points, but both have also thrown shit around.

Linkbucks, adfly both are on the same trash heap of untrustworthy link shorteners. Why doesn't google offer a ad-based linkshortner (as an alternative to their ad-free goo.gl links)... at least Google ads aren't untrustworthy.

Alot of this thread is gbatempcancer

I mean, I like seeing a little saltfest now and then, but this thread... seemed more fight than salt (Yes there is a difference in my mind)

To me there is a difference as well. When something is salt, you just have an outrage, but everyone is pretty calm during it (respectful discussion is not out of the window, people are still angry of course) whilst when something is fight, all bets are off and all sides are throwing all their leverage in the most blunt way possible at each other.

Also, in the case of salt, the salt will quickly disperse on it's own, whilst in the case of a fight a moderator often has to step in and deal out punishment where need be. Preferably with a banhammer.

This thread (and anything within regards to Rinne leaving GBATemp) is fighting.

Alright @Rinnegatamante and @TheCruel,
I don't know what happened and neither do I really care, but both of you are great developers (miles ahead of me when it comes to homebrew) and both of you are adult enough to not care who's the better person than the other. Honestly whatever happened can the two of you not just say sorry to each other and forget instead of pointing fingers?

You don't need to like each other but neither do you have to hate.

Ok, since this derailed I'll toss in my two cents.

I use adfly, I set it up so that there are no popups or the like. I also provide ad-free links next to the primary ones, sure they are still using adfly but it is for download stats. If anyone would like to support me more directly feel free to glance down, I may not publish that much stuff but it's because I do my best to make the best software I can. I try my best to modify the logic before realising to quickly iterate though all different logic branches. I guess it must work because the only issues have been from small differences on different platforms biting me in the butt.

TL;DR I spend stupid amounts of time on UIs with five buttons, I use adfly, give me a break.

Now on topic:
It's nice to see a little tool like this open sourced! It appears to just map a specific region of memory with a supervisor call and then dumps it, right? I guess that's why it's *hax only, because a CIA build would need to load the DSP binary in the first place? I wonder how the binary itself works, could lead to some interesting results.

Why is that exactly?

You're being a dick, you know?

Also, I thought we had stopped talking about this. It's not going anywhere, it seems.

Shall we stop?
Why would you respect someone who doesn't respect you? Resorting to adfly is showing that you don't trust your users to contribute honestly - treating them like animals instead of people.

@Rinnegatamante's DSP FirmDump (dsp_firm_dumper.3dsx) is 214KB while this one (DspDump.3dsx) is only 180KB, a 34KB difference between two programs that do the exact same thing.

I don't agree. Does Rinnegatamante force you to use their software?
At any rate. Let's stop. Ok?

Sure, smaller = better, but is it really a significant change? It might be good, but does it have any *real world* advantage? It's a really small file anyway, right?
