I installed and launched Freeshop before I ever launched EShop, now Freeshop has no default music is there anyway to fix this?
- Delete the entire 3ds/freeshop folder
- If you're using the .3dsx version, reinstall it in a new 3ds/freeshop folder (skip this step if its CIA)
- visit Nintendo eShop and exit out (I think this copies BGM)
- QR scan code the new title key. This should reset freeshop.
- Under Music tab, set to Play eShop music. If no music plays then, go under Other tab, Update eShop music.
- (All else fail scenario) Resort to borrowing copies of boss_bgm1 and boss_bgm2 from a buddy. Needs to be placed in 3ds/freeShop/music/eshop directory.
Hi all. Am having an issue with Freeshop where my 3DS crashes when I press the Start button while in Freeshop, it spits out a black screen that says "an exception occurred", and then the 3DS shuts down. Any idea what's happening here?
I'm having this issue too with the latest v4.1.3 CIA from Evi repo; have not re-tested the early one hosted by Paul.
I found out that the crash will happen when you don't have boss_bgm1 and/or boss_bgm2. For some odd reason, the build on my 32 GB card will not retrieve those files at all. I have backups from my other cards to copy from, and they seem to have no problem re-extracting them when their freeshop folder is deleted.
Edit - Fixed the retrieval of bgm1 and bgm2 by renaming my Nintendo 3DS folder and rebuilding a new one. freeShop grabbed new bgm from fresh folder, and then I switched back to the original folder.
I said I guess it is, but I'm not sure.

I found a way to make this crash bug happen. This seems to be CIA specific.
- When you first launch freeShop, go under Settings and Music tab. Change it to Disable music if it was not that beforehand.
- Exit out of freeShop, go back to HOME Menu, and relaunch freeShop.
- Without ever changing the Disable music setting, press the (Start) button. You will get a dump similar to this (my freeShop is injected in eShop so the process name and title ID is different).
The crash will not happen if you do not start freeShop at the beginning with Disable music. It will also not happen if you change it that to anything else. Changing it back to Disable music will allow freeShop to go back to HOME Menu with (Start).
I'm not opening an issue at notabug.org because I don't feel like starting another account after settling with GitHub. I'm not going to verify if the bug appears in normal CIA version as I only use freeShop in injected form.
