hey, im looking to start a website but i dont know where to start. i know i need to get a Domain name and a hosting service. i already know html php, etc but ive always used those "free" hosting services but i want to go one step farther. Any tips? help?

Depends on what kind of website you want. Do you want a website that handles alot of traffic or a very reliable one. I didn't need too much traffic so I used polurnet as my host. My host helped me get a domain name for like $10 a year. They will walk you through getting a domain name and using FTP to upload your website's file folders.

Im just trying to get a simple site going, one that doesnt have too much file traffic.


edit: PolurNET looks pretty good. did a quick google and people seem to like it. not too expensive either. thanks westside

You've probably seen gaminglagoon links floating around, well, this is the same, but for domains.

my own website shtbc.net runs on the hosting, as well as the domain was purchased through there.

Also, .info domains are only 2 dollars/2 points there.
