I can confirm that Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy(JPN) works in US 3DS 9.4 - plays in Japanese.

I also have RE:Mercenaries(JPN) and Super Street Fighter iV(JPN) to test later.

that useful list for reference! No wonder I cannot use the Tomodachi Life (European) on my 3ds JP consoles with region3 loader.

Hi, sir. How you guys run this Tomodachi Life EUR game on your JPN new 3ds? I tried many time , still error happened...

There is no regionthree on n3ds

I am playing the EUR game on a AUS/EUR n3ds

I tested the EUR game on a US 3dsxl(old) and it didnt work.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star(US) does not work on JP 3DS XL 9.4
Infinite black screen when using one gateway website, error code when using the other for some reason.
If anyone else is able to, please try and prove me wrong.

Edit: Forgot to mention games that do work. Whoops. All of these are US games on JP 3DS XL 9.4 and play in English:
Kid Icarus: Uprising, Etrian Odyssey Untold, and Mario Kart 7.

The list mentions that the JAP 'Animal Crossing' Game was not able to load in an EUR console,
however I was informed by a friend that the AU/PAL version of the game works for the JAP console,
language remains in English.

the person also mentioned AU/PAL Persona Q and Pokemon Omega Ruby working with the JAP 3DS LL.

it's so silly how a simple exploit actually brought more game sales to a company,
they should spare us the torture and get rid of this entirely.

Thank you so much for report. And yes I agree. They should release the firmware update which removes region lock. But I guess they do not intend to patch this so Smea's hack will always be there. This was released before firmware 9.5 and Nintendo didn't patch it in 9.5. Perhaps they don't mind it since it isn't piracy?

I meant to post this sooner -- Youkai Watch 2: Shin-uchi works on an (american) 2DS via regionthree. Although there is a "version x.xx" message displayed on the title screen, the game asks for no updates on boot. My portable is on firmware 9.2.

Tried the game out for some hours and got past two episodes without experiencing a single glitch. As one might expect, text comes out in japanese .

That said, there is no way for me to test either data transfer (since I don't plan to buy Ganso or Honke) or versus mode (those are the only other features I can think of, otherwise feel free to correct me) .

I also must say that I am very happy things like this thread exist... Thank you! It's simply a godsend to people that like to/would rather import .

Just wanted to share the ones I tested:

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask [EU] and Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy [EU] both work on JPN region 3DS. Home button crashes the game.

Pokemon Y [EU] and Pokemon Omega Ruby [EU] both work on JPN region 3DS. No problems.

Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney [JPN] works on EU 3DS. Home button crashes the game.

Pokemon Y [JPN] works on EU 3DS. No problems.

: if you enjoy using the 'Regionthree' exploit to play cart games from different regions with your 3DS‬, do not upgrade your firmware to
9.5.0-23. It's been disabled.
