Will playing region locked games online get me banned?
All games are region locked. I'm going to assume that you mean going online with a game that's out of your region. In that case the answer is yes, you can get banned from what I've seen.
If you're using a .CIA of the game instead of a .3DS, then no. You're not going to get banned by playing online with a .CIA installed game. I've done it tons of times on a US console.
My ds is US and i plan on playing mhx on multiplayer.. :v
Are you on CFW? Using a cartridge? What's your setup? I should have asked this first.
If you're using homebrew menu to do region free and online with a JP MHX cartridge, you're in the clear. Just don't use Gateway or Sky3ds with a public header. That's a no-no. If you're using a CIA backup why not install the US version of MH Generations?
Actually, I do believe playing an out of region game online, even with a CIA can get you banned.
I've done it quite a bit. CIA only, though. I've never played online with an out of region cartridge but my understanding is that it's fair game as long as you're using a legit copy OR a private header. To the OP: take this with a grain of salt and do research. I could be wrong.
Wait wait, if I use region free with an original japanese cartridge on my european 3DS with online I can get banned?
Im using CIA, and I want to play MHX because i have a friend whos in japan which he also bought his ds in japan..
Ah. I've never gotten a ban from out of region online play with CIA but there could be a risk. Definitely don't use cheats or anything. You should be fine.
thank you but im gonna do some more research before i try it
Too bad this guy was asking for MHX cheats also in a past tread, bor to be banned, haha.
I played Fire Emblem Fates and some other Out of Region Games online very often.
I've a EUR n3DS and played Fire Emblem Fates (JPN) when it came out.
No ban for me, lel.
Can and will are two very different things. Sure, it can. Will it? Most likely not.
The only issue im getting is using DLC's on online play and offline, just when i select on Special Quests, the game crashes. Default quests are ok online but DLC's arent.
