No, they will continue to play all the games they do now even if they don't work with future versions of the official/ AKAIO software. The only issues will be with newly released games, although some people may release patches like they do for the R4's.

We know from the hints dropped that the beta of AKAIO which they are playing with has other improvements though.

You may argue that they are not clone because Acekard web site did not say they are. Acekard did not say anything about the clone R4i Ultra because they sold them the cards. They are clones. Period! Well there is a slight possibiltiy that mine will arrive tomorrow considering it shipped a couple hours after I bought it, so I will see than. When I recieve it what do I have to put on it?

Only the stuff he bouthg are real and legal. He bought clone AK2i, they are legal even though they are clones and do not work wit the updater. He needed a special one from normmatt to get it to work. But as long as it works with any updater, it is real and real.

You can use either AKAIO or Acekard firmware. I suggest you to go with AKAIO.

That's correct.

They are illegal because they contain a portion of a commercial rom, Danny Phantom. This is what makes them illegal. This is how they get round the DSi 1.4FW.

Hence the reason they have the Danny Phantom icon when you insert them into an AK2i.

This is the reason Acekard's done come with the 1.4 update installed, and they don't have the same update. It's the same reason the newly released iEdge card comes with no firmware too, and their case you have to merge the firmware with an obtained Suduko Puzzle League rom.

This same FW update works on cards which sucessfully updated using the original update, IE ACEKARDS.

I have one of the "fake" ones based on what this post says.(I did order it from RHS
You can feel the chip/came preloaded to work on DSi 1.4(which it does perfectly)/has the Danny Phantom Logo.
From what I gathered from this thread there is a chance that future AKAIO versions(I'm using 1.5.1) or updates for the card that unblock it from a newer system menu will not work. Is this true?

Would I be able to replace this "Actel fake" one with a "real" AK2i, RHS?
I ordered mine on January 3rd.

So far my card works perfectly and I haven't had any problems other than it randomly not loading(but I figured out it was a problem with my micro SD card after consulting the AKAIO wiki).
