Hacking Rednand: Linked or unlinked?

I am thinking of a linked or unlinked sysnand.
What is now the best setup/situation?

I personally like to play my games on both sides with saves on both sides.
Then the linked situation fits best. Right?
But will it have any disadvantages next to the unplayable games coming from the rednand side and their broken icons?
And what about the future?
Makes it sense to fill my usb hard drive now? Or will we be able to have vWii and Wii U on the same drive?
