Hacking Recovering deleted save data - in the game

So I have one of the actual R4DSs while they were still in production.

Problem is that while playing RF2, instead of loading my save data while I was in the game, I deleted my save data instead. Is there anyway possible to open the .sav file and modify it so that the save data would be recovered. It is just a binary file, I wouldn't think that the game would actually overwrite everything when the save data is deleted.

You could POSSIBLY edit the save file.
I have to assume that they just change something small to signify no data rather than overwriting bit by bit.
You would have had to not save anything after the delete for it to even possibly work.
You could ask in the hacking forum about game saves.
