1. They were for GBC.the oracle games don't really count because:
1. they were for gba :/
2. they weren't 3D
I don't quite understand this logic...the oracle games don't really count because:

What? I prefer Pokemon too.the oracle games don't really count because:

2. they weren't 3D

That, and he obviously doesn't know a lot about them, since he says they're for GBA![]()
And since when is a zelda game judged based on what console it's for? They're all awesome!
oh godI also prefer Pokemon.

WHOOOOSH!rpg=ROLE PLAYING game
what role u play in Zelda? In PH u dont even control Link directly. Role of little fairy? Then DOOM is rpg too... U playing role of space-marine. In Serious Sam u play role of _most_dumb_superhero_ever_. In Nintendogs - dog trainer

........In Zelda, you can't makes choices that will affect the game(or the ending). It's a action game, and it's never gonna be a RPG.
You actually can make choices. The most common are called sidequests. They enable features, abilities, and/or story which are otherwise inaccessible on the normal.
I think basically RPGs are a genre that is story-oriented and based on character development (gameplay and story).
Zelda isn't one, 'cause link is a mute.
Ever heard of game called Chrono Trigger? If you say Chrono Trigger isn't an RPG, I swear I'll shoot you.

So, we might argue that the only reason Zelda (and secret of mana, then!) isn't an RPG is because it doesn't have turn-based combat!

About defining RPGs: A true Roleplaying Game is defined as such: A Game in which you take a role which can by your action change the proceedings of the main story. Hence, most of the Zelda games are not RPGs, as the story does proceed the same way even if you take one or two sidequests. But Chrono Trigger definatly is an RPG, as your actions inflict on your proceedings, for example, if you try to sell marle's amulet in the begining of the game, you might end up in jail later on. You also have 8 different endings depending on your actions during the game.
BUT, nowadays RPG is stamped on games that have some type of level handleing and put more effort to story then to the action. But don't go poke at why RPG is called RPG, because most of the RPGs out there today aren't really RPGs.

I don't consiter Super Mario RPG a RPG per the defention of RPG. An RPG in my opinion is something of the line of Dungeons and Dragons, EON, World of Darkness. The old Bards Tale on the amiga. That kinda thing.About defining RPGs: A true Roleplaying Game is defined as such: A Game in which you take a role which can by your action change the proceedings of the main story. Sigh... the definition of RPG is harder than I thought. I understand where your coming from, however your example is slightly wrong. In Chrono Trigger, you'll end up in jail no matter what you do, but some of the speeches may be changed. Using endings is a bad example too, majority of RPGs have a single ending no matter what you do. Super Mario RPG has no consequences on your actions from what I remember, and it's still an RPG.
This argument is going nowhere, the term "RPG" is way too general. I myself don't clasify Zelda as an RPG, but rather an Action-RPG. It uses elements from an RPG but has more of an Action type gameplay to it. I don't know any other way to describe it...
