Hacking Really need help updating R4i DS Gold

I've been out of the loop for a while, and I'm stuck.

My 3DS XL isn't capable of running my R4i 3DS Gold card (I get that black screen and error message when loading it), because the firmware is too recent (it's the latest one out).

I've upgraded my card's Wood to the latest (1.64), and I used the card firmware latest "patch" available from www.r4ids.cn (labelled as: The 3DS V6.2.0-12 Patch for R4i Gold 3DS is released now! (for R4i Gold 3DS card only) (Aug.6th,2013)

When running my card on my old unupdated firmware original 3DS (non XL) I am able to see the card's specs:

Wood akmenu 1.64
Hardware: R4i Gold 3DSb
Sys: NDSi 1.45 & 3DS 6.2.0-12


However, this doesn't run on my 3DS with the latest firmware currently available.

Can someone please tell me if it's possible to get the Wood supported R4i Gold cards supported on the latest firmware?

Fixed it myself. Although I updated to the latest patch, looking back to patch 6.0 (Jun 23rd 2013) I realised I had to cut the wire between two points on the circuit board of the chip. Did that and it works on the latest firmware now.
