Hello, fellow retrogaming enthusiasts!!

I got a link to an old post that I'd like to read. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to include it here, because I'm a new registrant. But transliterated, it's threads slash ez-flash-omega-definitive-edition dot 600718 slash page-12

Resolving it produces the response

Oops! We ran into some problems.

You must join this group to view thread contents CLICK HERE

When I try to click that link (for "group slash cheat-club.24"), I get
You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action.

I presume this group was retired at some point… needless to say, it isn't listed in today's "groups" list, and the associated "group/…" URL scheme seems to have since been migrated to "forums/…"

I have attempted some obvious URL-surgeries to try and see or join this group, without success.

I would like to read this post if doing so wouldn't violate some legitimate privacy concern. Help?

Thank you.

The link to a thread in a group or sub-forum is laid out exactly the same. To my knowledge there is no way for a group owner to delete a group either. I would assume the group is just both private and hidden.

No idea how you got the link to that thread, but I don't think you'll be able to view it.

As it says, did you try, "Joining" the group first?

In that case, -snip- this response please

Thanks for the replies!

AncientBoi, I did try joining (via URL-surgery, since there was nothing "real" I could navigate to)… a reasonable question :)

Scarlet, I got the link from DeepSeek

There is a very legitimate chance that that thread never existed in the first place then.

Thread 600718 has nothing whatsoever to do with the EZ Flash Omega (or GBA whatsoever).

You can use Google to do a site specific search of the text in the url and find a thread that is EZ Flash Omega related with the exact same title, different thread ID, and only one single page. https://www.google.com/search?q=site:gbatemp.net+ez-flash-omega-definitive-edition - (it's the top result)

Beyond that though, good luck, if you choose to take what it said as the truth. I wouldn't.

Thanks for the reply, Sicklyboy

I suspect it did, because I was able to get specific metadata. The title was supposedly "[EZ-FLASH] Omega Definitive Edition - Definitively Excellent", and it was (again supposedly) posted by KiiWii on May 24, 2021.

My current hypotheses are that permissions changed, or that somebody fed the language model data that wasn't public.

For what it's worth, I have. :)

Oh believe me, I don't. That's why I'm trying to read the original post.

(Incidentally, the claim I'm skeptical of is that, with v1.06 firmware, you can remap the X and Y NDS buttons when playing a GBA game, like with the old DS Chip Advanced.)

Needless to say, this isn't the first time I've been unable to pull up old posts from GBATemp. This was just the time I decided to dig in on it.

That's interesting because groups weren't introduced until September of 2021.

I know some posts were moved into popular groups from the larger forum, but a post like that wouldn't have been moved by mods into a group called "Cheat Club". Your AI is probably making things up.

Edit:
Just to further support the idea your AI is making things up, check out thread 600717, the thread posted before the one you're looking for. It was posted in October of 2021. It stands to reason that one you linked also was.

That's a useful data point, Scarlet, thanks again. I also noted that the v1.06 firmware doesn't exist, which led me to think perhaps DeepSeek confused some custom firmware edition for official.

Your AI is probably making things up.
Quite possibly so! I was just struck by that post title, which seemed 1) authored and 2) like a weird thing for an AI to fabricate.

There was also a (supposed) quote: "The Omega DE lets you swap buttons like the old DS Chip Advanced. I mapped Y to B for GBA games on my DS Lite."

Maybe @KiiWii could just tell us if they posted that? :rofl2:

:) Upon questioning, DeepSeek claimed you posted "The Omega DE lets you swap buttons like the old DS Chip Advanced. I mapped Y to B for GBA games on my DS Lite" to (unresolvable) page 12 of a GBATemp article titled [EZ-FLASH] "Omega Definitive Edition - Definitively Excellent".

At this point, everyone here (myself included) assumes it's lying.
