Hi,

I recently bought an EZ Flash Omega Definitive Edition. However, I unfortunately haven't been able get it to work.

I downloaded some GBA Roms, downloaded Kernel 1.03 and firmware 6.0, the cheat library and thumbnails.

I put these files on a micro SD card - formatted as exFAT. Initially, it wasn't working for me, and I realised after a while that the microSD card wasn't in properly.

Once I fixed that it did work for me.

However, it says in the FAQ to turn on the GBA while holding down R in order to update the firmware. Ever since I tried this I haven't been able to get it to work at all.

I've even gone through the EZ-FLASH OMEGA BOOTLOADER RECOVERY instructions and that hasn't worked for me either.

I'm getting a blue screen that says:

'EZ-FLASH SAFE MODE
->Boot
Test Card
Update Loader

No_Loader_found'

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

No_Loader_found means there is no bootloader.
You need to follow the guide to restore it.
Hi, thanks for your response. I've already tried the 'EZ-FLASH OMEGA BOOTLOADER RECOVERY' instructions and it's still not working for me. I wonder if the unit could be defective.

Did you tried this way?

Image file in pdf is omega file.
Yes, I've tried this twice and have had no luck. All I get is that same blue screen with 'No_Loader_found' at the bottom.

The recovery instructions mention the following:

'After recovery You will see different status in various conditions, such as white screen, microSD initiation error, kernel not found.'

I'm not seeing anything like this. Is it possible that the SD card isn't being read at all? When I switch on the GBA without the microSD card in the Omega I'm seeing the same screen.

You can also try with a different sd card.

Has it never worked properly?

If so, there is a possibility that SD card is not being read properly.
You need to check if the connector of SD card slot is in place.

Quite like the keys on the hp victus they feel tactile but now spongy as older laptops
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Plazorn, can I run it Windowed tho? For some reason I get nervous when having stuff in fullscreen
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    Not as spongy

Linux is not user friendly, not sure why you are dead set on installing it anyways. You will be lost with it.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It has matured alot to be more user friendly but you need patience to get a understanding of it

@BigOnYa, Lol. Linux is user friendly if you find a suitable distro for your needs. The interfaces are much similar to Windows, so I bet most people will find it easier.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Tutorials exist out there for doing the rest.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, I read Ubuntu and Linux mint are the most user friendly ones

  • Plazorn @ Plazorn:
I'm not sure what you mean @Xdqwerty. You can run linux under windows through a virtual machine or through the wsl. Linux itself has "Window Managers" which put applications in non fullscreen windows
  • kijetesantakalu042 @ kijetesantakalu042:
Honestly you just need patience and reading ability. I've install arch linux several times on a vm but I can't really test it out because the vm is too slow
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Plazorn, Yeah , thats what I meant, running Linux in a window and not in fullscreen. Also it ran very poorly on a virtual machine
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
But unless you have a real reason to use it, I don't see a reason to switch to it from windows. Yea just use VM and try it first.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, I said it ran poorly with vm
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@kijetesantakalu042, Depends on if your PC could do it. There are settings to use the CPU natively and adjust the graphics memory which does quite improve it a bit.

Just look at the amount of SteamDeck nerds out there that know how to use it ;O
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Plazorn, and I don't think my PC has a wsl
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    It has a hamster
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
But why go through the effort of having Linux inside of a VM, whereas you could have a multiboot installation or replace your pre-existing OS with Linux.

@SylverReZ I have all of the speed options enabled. Also 512 gb ssd pain

@Xdqwerty, It requires installing an update to enable WSL in Win 10/11.

Only thing I gotta do with this laptop is put in a 2tb ssd came with 512 🤮
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, I might just try it on a live USB and then install it with multiboot
