Hacking RawkSD

i see that rock band 3 has a release date of october 26. i wonder if rawk 3 will be released before this?

tueidj, I'd just as soon get the newest and most awesome form of RawkSD (RawkUSB?) going and dump the old one. You're right, Nintendo broke the thing and while I tried for a bit to get it to work again thanks to the advice of some folks from this thread, it was a bit too much work and over my meager homebrew head to know what I was doing with things like Dop-Mii. RawkSD v2 worked great for when it was released and then onward, but I think it's time to move on and get the new version 3 out. I know when it's released I'll just start from scratch and build all my customs again with the new version since I'll be able to get it all in one place, which is what I wanted to do with all this in the first place.

It was actually a rhetorical question, to explain why we couldn't be bothered holding derpadrf's hand to fix his wii. His demands that we support him as if he were a paying customer and not bothering to read the IRC channel rules before repeatedly breaking them didn't help either.

One person has already bricked their wii by messing around trying to get rawksd2 to work again even though he was told not to, and that's why the only official advice we give is to wait for rawksd3.

i dont want you to brick your wii, because i know for a fact that it brings you joy and happiness- but i'd be pleased as punch if you bricked your pc, as your use of it brings me just the opposite.

Yeah, nobody ever told you it didn't work just none of us had ever done it so we couldn't help you. I personally told you several times to ask here and wait for a response. I mean seriously, that's almost like asking for help with getting RawkSD customs to load via the uLoader craphack... if you're not going to use the program the way it's supposed to be used and be happy and wait for the new version so you can use all of the new features the way they are supposed to be used then don't come to the devs asking how to make their program work in a way it isn't designed to be. They have put a lot of time and effort into making it work that way, so deal with it or ask someone else.

How do you brick a PC? Even if I got viruses, I'm somewhat of an expert at fixing computers...

And I did ask here. I tried talking about OTHER things too, I think you guys just see what you want on the IRC channel and ignore everything I said that doesn't piss you off.

I mean, look, I realize I can be annoying... but since when is that such a crime? I am actually an admin of two IRC networks myself, don't underestimate me...

@Dr Awesomo: the problem is with the patcher: it just updates IOS37 to the latest version. Unfortunately, rawksd doesn't work with that version (though it still needs a clean IOS37 in that slot). You should use a program like dop-mii to download and install an older version of IOS37...v3869 will suffice.

Ah! Supreme advice. Thank you very much, you'll be happy to know that the "Out of Date" Error is an item of the past!

However... (Duhn duhn DUHNN!) ...we have a whole new league of an issue...well, not really.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the tracks will still not...erhm.."go".

The error is as follows: "[Custom] cannot be restored to wii system memory"
Well i'll be damned...

If it consolidates the isuue, I didn't use DOP-Miii to install the old IOS. DOP-Mii was pretty fascinated with installing an IOS36, and wasn't privy to the idea of letting me change it. So, I decided to download and pack the version of IOS you suggested above to a WAD using NUSDownloader (gotta love it), and install it as such.

Perhaps this is the problem? If so, I don't suppose I could ask for a breif explanation as to how to get the required resources (DOP-Mii, in this case?) to work the way I need them to, no?

I could probably figure it out myself over a time period of "X", but that'll have to wait until I get home tomorrow. This'll be the first place I look before I do so, however. That having been said, any assistance is good assistance.

The reason you need to use DOP-Mii is that you still need to PATCH the IOS before you install it. Installing from a clean wad will not work. You just installed a clean IOS. And DOP-Mii patches IOS36 first in order to let itself do what it needs to do. If you don't like that then just wait for Rawk 3.

the rawksd crew isn't a company you've paid who owes you customer service. they are providing you something free of charge, with no warranties, and multiple warnings that it may screw your wii up if you don't do it right. they are providing us something they have virtually no obligation to provide us, that we are too lazy to come up with ourselves.

the rawksd crew doesn't owe you, or me, or anyone anything, including, not acting like a jerk. this is the internet. if you really did admin 2 IRC networks that were worth half a shit you wouldn't be crying about someone being mean to you on the internet.
