what is the difference between off topic chat and edge of forum?
and how do you get banned? i want to try to avoid it

If you think a thread you're about to make is shit and is not serious, then it's EoF material.

If you think a thread you're about to make isn't shit and is actually helpful/serious, then it's general offtopic.

From what i've heard, EoF is the what you may call the "Shit Thread" Section while the off-topic is the quite opposite of that.

Pretty much what DinohScene said.

The off-topic is more for threads that fit other sections, but aren't really jokey. Pretty much this thread. It's just off-topic, but meant to be a serious conversation and or question.
The EoF is meant for testing features, spam, and jokes. So pretty much threads made for laughs.
To not get banned, just generally follow the rules, treat others with respect, ect. Pretty much use common sense and you should be fine.

To avoid banning, never deviate from the original topic even if someone else takes the conversation in another direction. Even if you desire to publicly defend yourself. You will become a target for moderation.
