What about a co-processor chip?
to make n64 games work properly on a DS you need to modify the DS so far that it's no longer a DS, but an N64portable.

only 2 ways to get N64 working on portable nintendo devices are porting(which is almost impossible without source) or getting the GBA TV card and plugging your N64 into your GBA.

so.. now it's time to hold off anymore N64 emulation questions untill nintendo comes with a new pocket console.

im not sure if this has been discussed but i know that the n64 cant be emulated on the DS
bu couldnt having hombrew that utilizes the RAm pack allow the use of a N64 emulator on DS to power its capacity
or is the graphics or something not enough

ahahha... we al know this is a joke topic

this guy is way to smart to ask such stupid questions

Unfortunately. no...The NDS's hardware is not that powerful to pull that off, but who knows maybe one day

oh guys come on if you want to play N64 Roms....Just download an emulator and play them on the pc with a big screen..............and a wide variety of games that can be played without the limitation of the size:)

No. DS doesn't have enough processing power for software emulation of N64. If you had a game's complete original source code, porting may be doable with tons of work.

Even PSP has terrible performance in N64 emulators. Not nearly fast enough for some games to be playable.

N64 on the basic level has a nearly 100mhz main processor alone, requires plenty of ram, has another juicy processor going with it as well. Now given that the DS has a 66 and 33mhz cpu, under a MB of ram, and so on...can you figure the math how the hell the N64 is going to run? And I'm really dumbing this down badly even putting it this way.

Not to mention that the processors were designed for specific functions as well. Specifically, the Co-processor was designed to draw pixels. There's no way that the DS will be able to emulate the N64.

no and not even if you ported the n64 games, because n64 is more powerful than the DS, I was emulating windows vistia on my ds and playing crysis on ultra high detail and it didn't even lag

If DS had GBA emulation, who knows if N64 emulation gonna be possible!
Maybe with a Slot-2 RAM+ARM11+3D Renderer addon...

Gba-emulation doesn't exist on the DS because it has the actual Gba hardware.

It's certainly not "terrible" anymore. It has come on leaps and bounds in a short amount of time, I was playing Smash bros the other day at close to full speed and it was certainly playable.

The only way it would be possible is if you completely changed the guts of the DS with a thingy that can and is small enough to fit in it AND have it adaptable with a DS card loader slot thingy. oh and it would need to work wit the screens.

You mean...basically deconstruct the DS. *sighs*

It isn't worth it.
