Version 1.0.0a2 of my R4YSauto GUI...

.NET 2.0 or 3.0 runtime required.

Yes, I have plans for making it do a whole lot more stuff

Ambitious, but oh well.

Anyway, interface has been cleaned up a lot and made more consistent.

You'll need the Segoe UI font, which is included with Office 2007, Windows Vista, Office 2007 Viewer (free) and Windows Live Essentials (free). If you don't have it, the program will work, but I have no idea what font it will use instead.

Extract the files to a folder, create a folder in that folder called R4YSauto and extract R4YSauto into it.

how can i get the r4ysauto generated FW to show me a verbose loading screen? my old manually made YSmenu (using the stickied guide) showed me the percentage when loading, while r4ysauto just freezes the screen while loading, and i would really like to have the old verbose screen back.

thanks guys!

it's not a r4ysauto thing. it's a 1.17 firmware thing from what i can tell. i've only used r4ysauto to make my ysmenu, and with 1.15, i had verbose loading screens, but when i ran it again using 1.17, it will show a small booting window and switch the top and bottom screens.

you could always go back to 1.15 if you want it that bad. since apparently the TT guys only add fixes for (J) games anyway.

i kind of like not seeing the loader do it's thing, although some sort of "thing" to show it hasn't frozen up would be nice. progress bar (ala actual R4) or even a small graphic that only moves as long as progress is being made. could be as simple as a counting ellipses.

but these are minor requests. my main feature request for ysmenu that i hope yasu gets working is soft reset. second would be an icon in the brightness corner.

That's normal. The game will still load in the same amount of time it takes with 1.15, assuming you are using the TTMENU.DAT with the Fake Killer removed.

The brightness icon in YSMenu is usually drawn in the bmp files.

i know it's normal. if you read my post, i was explaining the switch. being verbose about it, even.

Not when I replace the files to have a custom skin. maybe r4ysauto or the gui could have an option to draw them in. i don't know how hard that would be to implement, though. seems easiest on the actual firmware. it's just one more overlay on the bottom screen, since the functionality is there.

The loading screen difference you explained will be experienced whether or not one uses the version of 1.17 without the Fake Killer. Whether it actually leaves the loading screen and boots the game depends on which TTMENU.DAT one is using. I assumed you were describing a problem.

Man, I feel totally boned by this whole arrangement.

My R4 does not support themes (no matter what kind of folder arrangement I go for, the menu doesn't even open with Select)
nor cheats (no matter how I arrange or place usrcheat.dat or cheat.dat)

and if I try to set up YSMenu manually because there's no Linux option here and wine can't handle the .bats,
there's no r4patch.dat at the end of the ttextract.exe process, so I can't run games.

I understand that culturally Yasu is not down with the whole "share it all with everybody" idea, and probably takes his work very seriously, but clamping down on all of his releases is killing me because that's the one way I know of to solve even one of my problems with my R4. I would love to ask one of you guys to help me out with a packed version but I guess that wouldn't be too cool. Also, the YSauto system is awesome, and I'm totally not ragging on that either. It's just I don't have any way to tap into any of the really neat functions of my R4 here.

If anybody can help me out with one of these in setting up YSMenu I'd be super grateful:
R4YSauto under Linux
Manually setting up R4YS (or just sending me an r4patch.dat)

the progress bar for rom loading is certainly welcome.

new super mario bros. isn't loading for me. the (U) version. picross gave me issues the night before, but deleting and reloading the rom fixed that. didn't fix it here.

if someone could check this out, it will let me know if i need to try formating the card and start fresh.

EDIT:
full error message:

[Rom loading failed]

disk errcode=-82

Please reset system.

New Super Mario Bros. (U) works fine for me on the latest YSMenu and DSTT 1.17.

thanks for checking. i'll try erasing and re-copying one more time, and probably format the card. i've never had to do it before.

i'm supposed to use some panasonic sdformat thing, right?

yes it does. the zip just needs to be renamed to be the same as whatever was the latest when r4ysauto was released. i can't remember what it was off the top of my head. my ysmenu is the latest based off of dstt 1.17

EDIT: rename it to
YSMenu0810211800.zip

A new version of YSMenu came out of Jan 19 2009. But this R4YSauto program does not work with it.
You know why error messages don't just output "ERROR", right?

I'm like really noob at this, but how do you install the R4YSauto? D: like what to I replace and all that .___."
You don't install it. You copy it into a directory and run r4.bat...

And if you are scared of command line interfaces... I've made a GUI interface, but it doesn't depend on R4YSauto anymore so I won't link to it here in case I get attacked by people with sticks yelling "THREADJACK THREADJACK THREADJACK". You can easily find it.

Loving this! I downloaded and did everything and the menu loads just fine - I see all my games. I've not launched any as of yet, but I based on this thread, I shouldn't have issues.

Just a couple of questions. What do I do with the update file that I downloaded for R4YSAuto? It had two dat files in the zip file, extracted them and then wasn't sure what to do. Do I rerun r4.bat? Do I replace something on the R4 card? I have replaced my R4 firmware with this setup. Running r4.bat after extracting the update.zip file didn't change the version of the firmware. It's still 0.0.2.

I'm not sure why I would do this, but can I go back to using the R4 firmware? It was working for me - at least for the games. I couldn't ever get the multiple theme setup to work. I thought my daughter would enjoy being able to switch themes (to show friends, etc).

Is the YSMenu basically for homebrew applications/games? What is it's purpose? Is it what makes running backup ROMs capable.

Thank you to the developer for R4YSAuto and Yasu!
