Just wanted to let people here know that the manufacturer confirmed yesterday that in the next week they will release a new card and also an update for old cards.

i hope that the update finally comes, i've been waiting for a very long time and i might get an AK2i, if the update doesn't work

Old carts can have their kernel updated, but not the bootloader. For that you will have to buy a new R4i 1.4 compatible.

As could be expected there is no word of an update for old cards tho

I'm afraid owners of an "old" r4i sdhc are screwed.

This is a DSTT clone, not an R4 clone.

I used flashcards when I was 5 to practice math problems.

My thoughts EXACTLY!! I am also going to buy a AK2i if there is no update. I just sent them an email, hopefuly theyll respond manually not with a automatic message.

Well, I'm not surprised that a new card would be necessary, but I'm hoping that the current cards continue to be supported as the non-DSi R4-SDHCs are. I am not as quick to accept the R4iSDHC.com as an official site; as looking up the domain information for the two sites, they don't match up, and the contact info for r4isdhc.com include fake email addresses.

i hope the evil N / clueless S won't force upgrade like what they are doing with Wii/PSP
however, i am not sure can this idea being apply on DS

Just spoke to the manufacturer.

Update and new card are confirmed.
The update for the old cards will be released next week on their website.

I just got an email from R4i-sdhc saying that it's going to be released friday:

Dear Customer:
First of all,we appreciate your feedback and your support.
We will update our kernel with 1.4 version by our website within next Friday!
