I still don't see why I can't restore my own save though...
Imho did you flash your R4i SaveDongle to firmware V1.2? Mine is on V1.2 (and using v1.3b software) and I was able to restore Super Mario 3D Land's save successfully. (of course, we can't decrypt it yet but it can be restored/backed up)
So, what exactly is the process for getting somebody elses save to work? Everytime I try on Zelda I get save file corrupted. (using 1.3b and fw 1.2)
Here's what I did:
Extracted Key from dl'ed save and decrypted it with that.
Extracted key from my own zelda save and rencrypted the decrypted save with that.
I also tried uing the same keys for both steps, but my understanding is the above is the proper way.
Why would you do that? It's not necessary to unencrypt and encrypt it when restoring it...(or at least not until they can be modified)
I downloaded a save file from their website to test out loading other peoples saves. Can't get it to work.
Ah, I see. Then your problem is simply that saves are region-locked now (yeah -_-) so try using a save from your own region. I was able to borrow another guy's save for OoT (testing, same region as mine) and it worked fine.
