Hacking r4ds cheats codes

Hi my name jesse,

New to the site and how to use cheats.

I have nintendo ds lite and r4ds chip.
I have run the bugfix against the menu_ds.dat file
I have removed system file and had nintendo ds allocate new file
I have download the cheat database
Loaded the cheat file
started nintendo ds lite and games run as normal and no cheats listed
removed the cheat file and tried the usercheat file
started nintendo ds lite and games run as normal with no cheat options.

Any help much appreciated have tried to follow all instructions that have been listed.

Yes, they are the two links that I used with all the instructions above.

have v1.18 downloaded also used the exe pgm to patch
downloaded the main cheat db.
used the usrcheat.dat
then used the cheat.dat
tried deleting the system file.
its as if there were no cheat files
all the file names are spelt correctly.

The files I have on the chip are all the games
_DS_MENU _DS_MENU.SYS _DS_MSHL CHEAT
and then all the game files

Did some searching and some indicated that problem could be too many cheat codes? and recommended eu/e cheat codes as they only english and may be easier for ds to cope with but done advise where these one are.

Is there anything I have missed or can share with you to help problem solve.

Got it working by getting hold of friends ds and used his files.

Only difference is that he had the cheats in a folder on there own and the games in the root directory.

Is this the way it has to be as the instructions in nerins does not mention any of this.?
