Hacking R4 roms keep freezing...

Hi guys, really sorry for my ignorance if this is posted elsewhere, I did scour the FAQ and such. Basically I've got the R4 card and equiped with the latest firmware, all roms start up but then will freeze at totally random points. It can go half hour running fine, but chances are it will defo freeze at some point.

Is it a clone? Have you tried reformatting it?

Hi mate, sorry, really new to this. I've no idea, I've scoured FAQ, any ideas on how I can check? The cartridge just says R4 Revolution for DS (NDSL/ND).

Haven't tried reformating it, I am contemplating it, is it safe to do so?

Ok well I just reformatted the micro SD card & the roms still freeze up randomly, gutted....

What's going on =(

2 things come to mind here ( apart from a fake )

1. bad roms ,bad download etc ie try others

2.poor contacts ! :

To fix it:
1. Remove the small screw from the r4ds.
2. Remove the back and remove the main chip.
3. Tear a small piece of paper off of something and fold that piece but make sure its not very large (you just want the chip to sit a little bit higher).
4. Put the piece of paper onto what is now the front-back side on the place where the contacts used to be sitting on the r4ds and put the chip on top of it, making sure its aligned to the front.
5. Finally sit the back of the r4 on`top of it, snap it together and finally screw it back together.
6. The contacts should now be bulging out just a little bit and they will now make better contact with the DS contacts and it should work.

before you go unscrewing it, what game are you playing? Theres some games that tend to freeze no matter what.

Hi mate, I'm pretty certain it's not bad roms, as I've tried a good variety now, and because it's not freezing with any kind of consistancy. I think you might be right with the second point, as sometimes the DS doesn't detect the card upon start-up! I have to power off & back on, as it just says no game pack is inserted.....

On an additional note, the contacts do seem to move slightly out as I insert the SD....
