Gaming R4 NDS Problems

Currently, Im using wood r4. The problem was when I turned the system on, the scene was dark, I could fix it by adjusted the light. Overtime, it became annoying. But that wasnt the least of my problems. When I close the game for a small break, the system just turn off completely. Please help me and ignore the horrible English.-.-

Unfortunatley, I don't think this is the right place, but I'll try to awnser anyway.
What type of R4 are you using and what firmware version are you using?
