I am having trouble changing my skins. I drag and drop them in to the root directory but when I boot the skin doesn't change. I am using FW 1.06, I am probably doing something wrong but some help would be appreciated.

yup, I copied them from the R4 folder on the minidisc

You don't copy them to root, copy them to the _system_ folder and overwrite the ones that are there.

thought i'd just make a little note for mac users that when saving your skin files (eg in photoshop), use Windows and 24-bit color depth. all files must use these parameters. my first try didn't work because I was using 16-bit for the latter.

sgadzookie80, If you were to just use different icons each time, your skins would be amazing. Its the icons that turn me off them =(

Hello there! I'm considering buying R4DS or M3 Simply and besides, I've been bored today, so I've decided to make some skins.
They're meant to be simplistic (no taskbars, etc.) and based on Vista's official wallpapers. Hope some of you will like them.

Note: As I don't own either M3DS or R4DS (yet), I don't have a clue how the skins actually look on hardware.

I believe the firmware on the minidisc is 1.04. Skinning is only possible on firmwares 1.05 and above.
