R4 don't work

To check change your console date to something as last year 2020 or earlier.

Could it be you updated your dsi/3ds firmware, then you migh have another problem, there are blacklists in the updates for cartridge id's.
Good news is most r4's are updatable, so you might be able to update to an ID that's not blacklisted.
although it seems it's past the check, so i think or your kernel/fw isn't matching your R4, or it's outdated, but try lower the year a few years back to the last year you're sure it worked before.

It is past that whitelist check. Blocked flashcart gives a generic "An error has occurred" message from the DSi or 2/3DS.

tTmebomb wasn't general set, it's custom to each r4 clone that has it.
That's why i'd say set it back a few years to when you're sure it worked before.
My last ds cart that had it crashed on late december 2017, i was so lucky that there was unofficial version of the software that didn't have the timebomb.
Rule was 3 till 5 years after the fhashcart was brought on the marked.

Can someone help me out? I have the original R4 with the 2GB microSD card. I downloaded the latest kernel (R4 DS V1.18 Kernel) from r4ds.com which I believe is the official site. I extracted the files and copied them to the microSD card. I then turned on the DS Lite with the R4 but it didn't boot. Nothing happened, just the DS menu not showing that any card is inserted.

Unless you cart is very old it's most likely you have a r4 clone and there are a bunch of them out there.
before anything to make things easier just post a picture of you cart, so we all can know which cart it is
and point you to right direction.

Well I asked for a pic from your real cart and not from some pic over the internet.
Cause many people think they have the same cart but in many occasions they are mistaken,
even in a recent post there was one member that have mistaken his cart.

Can somebody also help me find a firmware without a timebomb for my R4i Gold? My R4i Gold is an old one. It's not the one with 3DS or PRO.

Your kernel is actually this, the 1.18 version is pretty out of date: https://github.com/DS-Homebrew/flashcard-archive/raw/main/R4_original_M3_Simply/R4DS_Wood_R4_1.62.7z

This cart is notorious for having pretty bad contact issues. I'd give the usual blow in the slot and maybe do the paper trick:
1. disassemble cart
2. cut some paper and place it behind the contacts
3. put it back together
