Recently got a Wii U and it's on 5.5.1, is there anyway to purchase one of the eshop titles to install the exploit without updating to 5.5.2?

The guide online suggests I basiclly need to upgrade to 5.5.2 if I want to proceed, right?

nnu patcher will let you access the eshop on 5.5.1.
Thanks but how do I run nnu patcher if the system is currently stock? Could I use the web exploit to launch the homebrew channel and then nnu? Is it worth the trouble to stay on 51?
Always appreciative of the help provided here.

Yes just run the browser exploit to lauch homebrew then nnu patcher the wiiu will then reset to the homescreen then select eshop. It is much easier to setup haxchi on 5.5.1 then once haxchi is working you can update to 5.5.2.

The browser exploit on 5.5.1 works alot better than it does on 5.5.2. On 5.5.1 it works about 99% of the time on 5.5.2 the exploit works like 5% of the time.

Marko76, thanks.
Thx1138, I was using http://Wiiu.guide
The guide on this board is great and gets more into how to run 'backup' games but I think the guide on the site I linked is a little more straight forward in regards to breaking down everything you need to do for the initial setup one step at a time. Check them both out and follow whichever you prefer.
[Edit: Had I been following the guide on this board my OP would have been unnecessary]

Sorry but very few people here would recommend using wiiu.guide its pretty much hated by all here due to the fact that it explains nothing and misses out vital steps and has some steps that will potentially brick your system. Stay well clear of it.

I was just so familiar with plailect's 3ds guide that when I got the Wii U recently I just automatically went with his Wii U guide. What I especially prefer in plailect's guide is the initial section where everything you need on the sd is laid out in advance -- I just don't understand why there isn't a single zip file that can be linked instead of having like 20 steps involving multiple downloads & copying different files into specific directories.

From memory one difference that I think I notice already is the different config.txt setup plailect recommends using and that already has me a bit worried.
Anyway thanks for the warning; Is there a specific thread about the problems with the guide I was using or is it just multiple complaints over time?

Just do a search on here for wiiu.guide and you'll find many, many reasons to stay away from it. 3ds.guide is okay. I still have no idea after using it what the hell kind of hack I'm even using on my 3ds. That's what we try and avoid here. I could have just given you step by step and be "straight forward" with the guide but then you would be using the hacks that I picked instead of getting educated enough to make the choice yourself.

Also, a zipped up SD isn't a good option. They never keep those things updated and you have no idea what's on there when you go to troubleshoot. Wiiu.guide gives you fish. We teach you how to fish

If your throat closes, putting oxygen in your mouth will not solve anything - as you will be introducing oxygen prior to the area of obstruction
