Hacking [Quick Question] Gateway 3DS

Will Gateway 3DS come out with a new card entirely for the new firmware compatibility(9.0-9.2)? or will it just be an update to the software like always? I'm asking because I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and buy one now. or wait
