Hi, I've been unable to get cheats to work in CFG, Neogamma r9 b50, WiiFlow or USB Loader GX (or Gecko or Riivolution). A while ago I was able to use them fine in CFG to play Brawl+ and Brawl-. Is it possible that this is because I've recently updated to cIOS d2x v6, even though I tried loading CFG with Hermes' cIOS 222 (I just changed the IOS in configurator, I didn't use the other .dol) and cheats still didn't work? I was previously on cIOSx 249 r21, but I migth have still been on r20b or earlier when I last played Brawl+/-.

If d2x is very unlikely to be the problem I can add more info , I just wanted to keep it brief for this thread.

What Backup Loader could I use to play backups from my SD?
I tried waninkoko's sd/usb loader but most of the games i ripped from the wii doesn't work.

EDIT:I tried playing the ripped isos from the wii in dolphin and it shows a "can't find setupwii" something like that error notification.

hi guys. I hope this is the right place to ask.

I am interested in accomplishing two things and need to know the safest/simplest way to go about accomplishing them ...

1. Play "backup"/import games.

I skimmed over the site and I think I'm seeing that you can play games without burning them to a disc first? That sounds most convenient (if possible).

2. Transfer (backup) the save files from some of my more time consuming games with online connectivity (Monster Hunter Tri, etc).

I'm so paranoid about something happening to my Wii and losing all those hours of progress because I can't backup those save files!

~~~
So, can someone link me to some tried and true instructions? Remember, I'm not interested in a bunch of bells and whistles. I just wanna accomplish those two tasks WITHOUT DAMAGING my favorite console of all time - the Wii.
You should softmod your Wii with ModMii (it's stickied on the forum), then use Cfg USB Loader to rip your games to a FAT32 HDD. You can play backups from there. They will run faster on your HDD, you won't risk scratching discs anymore, and you won't have to bother with swapping discs.
For backing up save files, you want Savegame Manager GX.
Both Cfg and SGM GX are downloadable from ModMii.
@The_Dark_Knight....
1.) you can launch games via USB--no discs required. check out modmii for your modding needs (you will need your wii modded for what you are trying to accomplish)...link in my sig (or jump over to the Wii-hacking forum; it's stickied there). for USB loaders, i suggest either USBLoaderGX (r1088) or CFG (which Modmii will download and setup for you)
2.) i think you can do this for some (most) games right through the system menu option.... (when you install Priiloader during the mod process, there's an available hack which will unlock saves you normally can't move) ....but there are also savegame managers....there's a few to choose from IIRC...SaveGameManagerGX is decent i hear.....
EDIT: damn you Joostin
thanks for the amazing responses and in such record time, guys!! I'll try these out sometime this week and see how it goes!!
again, is there anything in particular I need to be careful about in this process? I really don't wanna hurt my system =\
If I had a nickel for everytime I heard that (usually it's in a scream followed by a gunshot), I might be able to hire a decent layer instead of spending my life on the run.
@The_Dark_Kinght: Sorry, missed your response. As long as you follow ModMii's instructions, you will be fine. XFlak (the creator) has spent a lot of time into making it safe and simple.
So, I think I have everything all set up but I can't actually launch a game yet.
Here's where I'm at:
I have the HBC on my main Wii Menu.
As well as a channel called "USB Loader" when I hover the wiimote over it.
I used the Wii Backup Manager to split an ISO into two wbfs files (thus smaller than the 4GB limit) on a FAT32 thumb drive.
I plug the thumb drive into the Wii's USB port and click on the USB Loader channel.
The icons are spinning and it says "Please connect a USB drive." I can click "Start" but if I do that all that happens is I see an image of a stylized wiimote layout and then that fades and returns me to the main Wii Menu.
What am I doing wrong? What steps might I have missed that the guide may have glossed over?
1) Are you using Configurable USB Loader?
2) What game is it? Very few games are over 4GB. This is just curiosity.
3) Did you plug the flash drive into the port closest to the edge? If not, do so.
That stylized wiimote splash screen sounds like the loading screen of the generic usb loader forwarder channel (IDCL).
Normally after the fadeout your usb loader app should launch. What usb loader are you using? Where do you have it installed? It should be in the 'apps' folder in the root of either your SD card or your USB stick.
1. I'm not sure what Loader it is. I haven't run anything that didn't come with the ModMii download.According to brausm08 above, the ModMii should have installed CFG. But I don't see it saying CFG anywhere.
Is there an even more default Loader that ModMii might have installed? I know the Loader's channel doesn't look like the youtube videos posted on this forum of either CFG or LoaderGX.
2a. It's "Another Code R." Never got localized to US so I was hoping to play the "import." I enabled "region free EVERYTHING" in Priiloader. I'm assuming that should make it playable?
2b. You say few games are over 4GB but most all the ones I've seen are over 4GB. I heard something about a "Wiiscrubber" tool that might reduce iso sizes. Should I be using that all the time?
3. Yea, I just so happened to be using the one closest to the edge.
Fair enough. But all the videos on the site show the Loaders running (literally dozens) of commercial games.Yeah, that really annoys me. It's like they are promoting piracy.
QUOTE(The_Dark_Knight @ Jun 21 2011, 11:56 AM) What SHOULD I try loading?
Well you must own at least one game. Try loading Configurable USB Loader from the HBC. If that works, pop a disc in, press +, press A, and let it install fully scrubbed. Most games will be significantly smaller than with an ISO (which is like 4.4GB or 8.8GB depending on single or dual layer). I think Wii Sports is under 300MB.
ah yes, I own close to 50 retail Wii games. I can take custom photos if you need.
plus, I needed retail Brawl to get this whole process started.
is there a way to manually install CFG from the tools I already downloaded/installed? or do I need to start it from scratch here: http://gwht.wikidot.com/usb-loader
Also, an important goal was to back up my MHTri save. I used Priiloader to enable "copy protected save files" but I still can't back it up to my SD card. It lets me click on Copy but then it tries working and stops and says "this file cannot be copied" or some such thing.
Thoughts?
No need to take pictures. I'm a little on edge today because I was really sick last night, and I'm still feeling pretty bad.
I think you should have Cfg on your SD card from the ModMii install, but I can't be sure as I didn't use ModMii (it's all custom baby!
wink.gif
). Load the HBC and check if it is there. If it isn't, load ModMii again and choose "USB-Loader Setup+Guide" and follow the steps from there. If your drive isn't FAT32, pick 1 on the first step. If it is, pick 5. Choose Cfg when asked what loader to use. If you have plenty of room on your SD card, I suggest you put the Cfg files on there so you have more room for games.
That copy protection hack is as worthless as my skills with women. Even if you can copy files over (and sometimes you can), you can't copy them back. You will need to use Savegame Manager GX.
