I've been following this guide to softmod my 4.0E wii: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=168890
Done all of it (I think

) but I chose to use USB Loader GX instead of NeoGamma - I hear gx is better but I dunno - I'm a noob!... I installed the loader channel, ran it and it says something like waiting for your slow usb drive... so I plugged my external hard drive into the other usb port and it loaded (I think) Nothing appears! It looks like the Wii menu but without any channels and buttons - looks empty - this normal?. What do I do?! Have I missed anything out?

My hard drive is a Freecom ToughDrive and I formatted it to WBFS using WBFS Manager.

unless you have not yet installed any games it will just show you the wii menu like gui...normally it should immediately show you the games that you had installed. try neogamma...if success, your loader gx release version might be the problem. you see, there are so many loader gx releases which some are really unstable (in my experience with loader gx). if even neogamma could not detect your hdd try to reinstall cios249.

Thanks, I'll try a different loader. I haven't installed any games yet - was hoping to make a backup of a few games but there are no options to do this - it's like this: http://i36.tinypic.com/24e42ok.jpg don't know what release I have - let an installer do all the hard work

I've put a game onto my hdd through the WBFS Manager. Tried neogamma.. chose load from usb but the list was empty

Should I reinstall cios249? Is there a guide for that

USB Loader GX seems to detect the hdd (when it isn't plugged in, there is a countdown before it shuts down).

havent used the wii for a while, new super mario bros wii is out soon and i was wondering which loader has the best compatibility so far?

right now this is my setup:

system software: 4.1u
cios rev14
latest homebrew channel (recently updated when i turned on wii)
neogamma r6

the latest game i played successfully was wii sports resort (havent played a newer game after that so far)

do i need to update anything before i can play newer games? for example sonic and mario winter olympics? or shold it just work with my current loader? or would i need a newer loader or different/better loader?

I recently added a USB loader to my Wii, but each one I try seems to be having the same problem with games. They'll load the strap loader screens, but as soon as it hits that games respective loading screen, it'll loop forever (In Brawl's case, it was an infinite rotating Smash logo with "NOW LOADING....," with WiiSports's case, it just caught on a white screen). I know the hard drive I'm using (A 250 gb Seagate FreeAgent) works with both the USB loader I'm using and the game I'm attempting to play, because I bought it off a friend who was using it for this very purpose. Any idea what's wrong?

EDIT: I've tried this with USB Loader GX (the loader my friend used), SDUSB Loader 1.5, and WiiFlow, all of which hit the same problem.

Re-quoted for a new page, still no fix yet.

just try to reinstall it. http://www.teknoconsolas.es/blog/waninkoko...om-ios38-rev-14
just download the installer then place it on you sd/apps then run it through hbc. if your hdd could not still be detected, check the hdd compatibility guide...not familiar with your hdd. good luck.

I get this hardware ID: USB\VID_07AB&PID_FC86
A quick search of 07AB shows it isn't compatible with USB Loaders.

edit:

Tried a couple of flash drives (with nothing on them) and I'm getting further than I did with the HDD!!! NeoGamma does nothing (but doesn't freeze
biggrin.gif
). USB Loader GX asks if I want to format to WBFS. I choose yes and see this:

Partition 1: Can't be formatted
Partition 2: Can't be formatted
Partition 3: Can't be formatted
Partition 4: Can't be formatted

With my HDD, I could delete the volume on that drive using vista's disk management tool and format it as WBFS using WBFS Manager. With these flash drives, I can't delete the volume - 'Delete volume' is greyed out. I could format from FAT32 to WBFS and WBFS Manager can see the games but everytime I plug the flash drive into the Wii and load loader gx, I'm asked to format to WBFS! and I can't do it!! Maybe it's something to do with the drive being formatted to WBFS from FAT32?
unsure.gif
Clicking on F:\ (flash drive) from Computer states FAT32 - maybe because Windows doesn't recognise WBFS?

Alright, so I'm trying to get A Boy and His Blob (NTSC) to work. Here's my stats!

System menu 4.0 NTSC U
Neogamma r6
cIOS 249 rev 13
Error 001

Softchip r44
Freeze
(It says loading application but the bottom of my screen's cut off so I can't tell if it says anything, or if it's just frozen)

Softchip (prerelease, can't remember what version)
Error 002 (and I have an 002 fix on...)

Any help?

*Edit*
Shoulda just updated my cIOS before asking. Rev 14 works.

i just got disney sing it pop hits and it freezes right after the wiimote reminder when i use backup launcher gamma and neogamma r7 and r8. could someone help me get this going?

Hello, I'm new, and I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I have a question regarding the USB Loader GX.
I usually can run any backup ISOs on my USB drive, but for some reason I try to use The Godfather Blackhand Edition, and once I try to start it, it just goes straight to a black screen.
I have a 4.2u Wii and HBC and all that good HB stuff works cuz I softmodded it with the stickied guide somewhere on this forum... I would really appreciate the help :)

I have a big big problem and I don't know where to post it so I start from here

my Wii now is't have problems to the most games like mario kart or Wii fit plus and much others that before hasn't and the same dvd backup play fine to others Wii but in my Wii let me eject it and close in the star of Wii same time in the game radom what can I do?

Pretty easy question, but how do I use Triiforce mrc to run my nand off my USB drive? I dumped a nand.bin with BootMii, but I don't know where to put it on the FAT32 partition. Do I need to use a different program to dump the NAND or am I just putting it in the wrong place?
