Hacking Quick 'DL & seed all' for guide.3ds?

guide.3ds is wonderful! How can I help?

Oh wow that sounds easy! I think I even have a file or two used in the guide sitting around.

Oh no! To get/seed a single file used in the guide I need to copy/paste the url into my browser/torrent client. I can't just click it in chrome because i'm looking at an rss. To support this guide via torrent seeding I would have to copy-paste a LOT of individual links?

Is there one torrent or magnet link that covers everything in the guide?


Sidenote: some of the files therein, for example 2.1.0U(Full).zip, seem like the kind of thing that goes against GBAtemp's code of conduct. For example we are not allowed to link to the official Gateway 3DS site because somewhere on there are direct downloads of files containing stuff originally from Nintendo. But we link to guide.3ds all the time, and that site links to torrent downloads of files from Nintendo. How do we justify linking to one but not the other? The biggest difference here purely direct hosting vs peer-to-peer torrents, but obviously linking sites with torrents or Nintendo code is a big no-no.

3ds.guide doesn't host the files, it just gives links to the torrent, which is hosted on another site. Gateway's site directly provides the files from Nintendo.

It's a thin veil or a facade kind of thing, but you're totally right.

Depending on your torrent client, you might be able to import multiple links at once, so just strip the formatting from the xml file and keep all the magnet links. Some torrent clients might need them to be comma-separated, or separated with a comma+space. Some require you to list them. Some don't support multiple links at once. Some even support keyboard shortcuts for pasting links directly into the client so that you don't have to go through the Open Address (or whatever) dialogue every time.

You could Google for a method to open multiple magnet links at once in your torrent client if you want. I'm not completely sure, but some torrent clients might even support pulling the magnet links directly from the RSS feed, in which case, put the rss.xml link into the torrent client instead.

Play around and you'll probably find a quicker method. Unfortunately, that's probably the best suggestion, as it'll be a learning experience for doing a similar thing in the future, ultimately.
