ROM Hack Questions about Rom Hacks

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I figured it seemed the most appropriate place.

So I recently got Story of seasons: a Trio of Towns and really want to install the true love rom hack.

The issue is that I have no idea how to go about that. I've tried looking up tutorials but they all seem to be based on installing things onto an SD card? The issue is I have the Pokemon 20th anniversary new 3ds, which doesn't have an SD card in it and instead has onboard memory. Is there a way to install things without that or am I just going to have to buy a 3DS with an SD slot? (I'm willing to do that especially for the XL)

Im sure all 3ds models accept sd card.

New 3ds has a back plate (two screws) to remove then micro sd inside...
