So I finally but the bullet and hacked my old Wii U today, successfully installed the latest aroma beta using the hacks guide and played around with some old games I have lying around like Zelda and such.
The issue arose when I tried to launch Tokyo Mirage Sessions and the console asked me for an update (Since it was on 5.5.0U), which I accidentally allowed while distracted.
As a precaution to automatic updates I had disabled all internet conections but to my surprise the update still installed, looking around the internet I found out some games actually shipped with the system update, TMS apparently is one of them.
The console updated to version 5.5.1U and everything seems to be fine, but I'm worried if perhaps I just messed something up, and looking around the internet hasn't entirely dispelled my doubts.
My questions are basically two, first off: Will this cause any issues sould I ever decide to uninstall all hacks? And can this update cause my console to brick or be damaged in any other way?
Sorry if this comes accross as ignorant but I'm fairly new to hacking, the only other console I've ever hacked is the 3DS and I primarily only hacked my Wii U to use Bloopair.

If everything works fine, do not worry. On the other hand, I'd suggest you block updates by following this instructions.
https://wiiu.hacks.guide/block-updates.html

And remember that, when performing a system update, it is always recommended to disable Aroma's autoboot feature. You can always enable the autoboot feature again after updating your system. Before doing anything, first make sure that everything is properly installed in the Health and Safety Information app. Just boot the Wii U without an inserted SD card. Start the Health and Safety app and check if you are asked for a payloader. If so, everything is fine.

And then start from step 4 for disabling autoboot:
https://wiiu.hacks.guide/aroma/autobooting.html

In step 7, just select "Switch back to Wii U Menu."

I'd recommend installing the 5.5.6U final firmware update, so that there is no chance a game performs an unexpected system update.

You should also install isfshax, which will protect your Wii U if something bad happens. In my opinion, if you have a hacked console, it should be "mandatory" to install this great tool. If you carefully follow the instructions from this link, install process is not as difficult as it seems at firts. Remember to also disable the autoboot feature if you want to install isfshax.

Isfshax does also block unwanted updates.

Good luck.

I see, luckily I opted out of Aroma autoboot when installing the beta so that may have helped avoid any issues with the game's update.
Just to be sure, how should I perform the 5.5.6U update? From System Settings?
Finally, I will look into isfshax tomorrow.
Thank you so much.

Yes. For performing the system update just update your Wii U from the System Settings. I really suggest you install isfshax before performing the system update, though.

A small update, I just finished checking all the games I intend to play and none have asked for further updates so I think I'm in the clear, still, I will look into isfshax and will perform all necessary tasks, again, thank you.

Oh, ok I'll do as you advice and hold off on the update until after isfshax is properly installed and set up.
