After loading Henkaku on my Vita, I decided to order a PSTV on ebay. I'm wondering (in case there is an update before I recieve it) If I can manually update it to 3.60 with qmca or something. I have no idea what firmware it is shipping with. Also, as I only have one memory card, is there a way to set up both the TV and vita as "clone" systems so that the one memory card works in both? (I did something similar with some of my 3DS's)
Thanks for any insight!

Regarding the memory cards, my Vita was on 3.30 and my PSTV on 3.60, I could not use the memory card I had in the PSTV on my Vita, it prompted me to update to the latest FW first. Both systems were connected to the same PSN as well.

The memecards have a file called "id.dat" on their root, which contains some info on the card, its PSN account and FW version.
If you try to put it into a standard Vita/PSTV with a different PSN account or lower FW version it'll yell at you.

Either delete "ux0:id.dat" with FTP/MolecularShell, or use SMOKE's tool that does the same automatically.
After you remove it and shut down you can put it in any Vita you like.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff

it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card

Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
