Are we able to swap models between characters? I'm wanting to replace Bayonetta's Bayonetta 2 costumes with the Bayonetta 1 costumes and give them some unique textures (if possible).

I'm pretty sure you can, just switch the files.(For example: If the costume you want is the 5th one, then copy the files in c06 to c00.)

How would I go about that with a DLC character though? Are the files still stored the same way in the same place? And would it still be usable with HANS loader? Sorry, a little new to 3DS rom hacking. I'm a proficient modder otherwise and understand the workings of Smash Bros Brawl's files so I'm assuming it's a similar format.

You would have to extract the update data.
I know HANS doesn't support updates, but I saw something that might be what you're looking called SaltySD.

These files are way different than Brawls.(I mod brawl too)

I still need to venture into the depths of the 3ds. Salty3ds is your best bet, esp since its been getting lots of love from shinyquagsire. ;) But the texture format probably like the Wii u .nut but 3ds precompiled texture.

I keep Googleing for more info on salty3ds, but all I find are threads about irritated (salty lol) 3ds owners. It's there a thread here?

You might have to rename the bones or even edit them as the rigging may not be the same or very similar.

The bones will be fine if its the same character since animations control them. The only thing should an issue is shared texture ids. We had that issue when incresing # of slots on Wii U, I wrote a script to fix it. And sorry for not calling it the right thing.... Salty is his shinyquasire thing.
