how important is the nunchuck and wii sensor? is there a cool hack for that too?

There is no hack for sensor, go with the OLD one if you are planing to mod in anyway, and get a cheap motion plus adapter, only some WII U games require motion plus.

the bar is about 5 bucks on ebay, the controller is about 15, the nunchuck is about 3 or 4, and the motion plus are 8, these prices are if you buy from US seller, if you got with Chinese sellers, the will go lower.

Check in your Wii U's box, there should be a sensor bar in there. Also, if you plan to use the game pad screen to play Wii games on, you don't need a sensor bar as there's on built into the gamepad.

Motion plus isn't that important, but if you're buying controllers now you might as well get one with it built in. It's probably not any more expensive and sometimes you get better performance than with the add on (not to mention the extra bulk the add on will cause.)

The nunchuck is very important, you definitely should have one.

Make sure you get real Nintendo stuff, sometimes the third party stuff is really bad quality and either flakes out or just doesn't work with certain things. I'd recommend staying away from Chinese sellers, they're cheap, but also often fake, even if they look like 1st party stuff. To be safe, I'd say stick to major known local or online retailers. It'll cost more but you know it'll work, and if you do get a bad one (it happens) you can return it.

i wired a wireless nyko for usb power to use with a dolphin setup in another room. (this was years b4 they offered one with a usb option) way better than burning through batteries. just soldered the red to one end, black to the other and it plugs into the tv's usb port. also did the same simple hack to my balance board.
fyi, you can buy refurbished wii remotes and nunchucks from nintendo's site for cheap. mine looked brand freaking new also

The original Nintendo Wiimote with built-in motion plus is great. I have the first one too, with the motion adapter attached to the wiimote. It's actually quite nice as well. Also the wiimote and nunchuck work very well together. Used them for thousands of hours on the old Wii, had loads of fun :D Takes a bit of time to get used to them on FPS's for eg. other than that they're very easy and enjoyable to use. Go for the original first, then see from there, imo ;)
