right guys, so thanks to nintendo barely realise that they have any customers in Europe, i cant check this for myself...

whoever has downloaded these E3 trailers im hearing so much about, i have a few questions. have they been downloaded to the 3ds, or its sd card? if so, can you see what format they are in? and can anyone transfer these to their pc and upload them for us to take a look at?

bit of a longshot, but im thinking they MAY just be a chance for us to figure out how to get 3d video playing on the 3ds ourselves. unless of course, the trailers can be accessed or theyre encrypted...

like i said, its a longshot, and i cant check myself thanks to region.

It goes to your SD Card and it's in MPO format I think... I haven't checked the extentions because I can't load my SD card to my computer.

It appears as a channel on the 3DS, so it's definitely the internal memory.

And I believe .MPO is only stereoscopic pictures. Not videos. Not positive on that.

Like all 3DS apps, they are probably encrypted specially to your console, right after you "buy" it.

SD Card out=No Videos
SD Card In=Videos
When you download videos it says "Destination SD Card"

I guess if you take your SD Card out, it'll go to the internal memory but I'm not sure.

Everything downloaded goes on the SD card.
Nothing is stored on internal memory anymore, except what Nintendo allow/want to.

Someone just upload one so we can TRY.
Don't be all professor on us, just let us try and fail if we must.

exactly, then we can all analyse the balls off it once we see that we cant do it. if we can, happy days!!!

The trailers are downloaded to the SD card.
There's a .tmd and .app file in each trailer folder.
The downloads are encrypted to your 3DS system so you won't be able to access them.

Here's a download containing the files as found on the SD card,
http://soulsnatcher.bplaced.net/3DS%20Videos.rar

As for what folder is which,
Code:
0005b000 - USA Paper Mario E3 video
0005b200 - USA Mario Kart E3 video
0005b600 - USA Luigi's Mansion 2 E3 video
0005b800 - USA OOT E3 video

@SageKyle: .mpo is an image file format.

@awssk8er: The 3DS can access the applications directly from the SD card.

This is ain't for nothing, but could you guys try downloading a video from the eshop and just changing the .tmd file for the usa file for example. (for me it seems that's where the video is saved)

Note: i don't own a 3DS.
Well, right now there's no video available to download on the Eur eShop. The only two videos (spot of OoT and DoA) are in streaming.

Could someone try logging their wifi traffic to see where it pulls the files from?
It may be possible that the file gets encoded after it is downloaded, if we were to download it through a computer we could have an unencrypted copy on our hands.

Itunes used to do it this way, linux users had their own opensource itunes clone that they designed and found out that the music gets encrypted by the itunes program after it is done downloading (they fixed that)

tried the same method for pokedex between mine and my sisters 3ds. if you swap any of the files, pokedex wont load, so i assume the same would be for videos. guess the encryption is gonna stop us in our tracks.

I just had a go too, no joy.

Nope, 3DS shows an error message telling you to "re-download it, it can't be played".
