I had a doubt, and I thought I might post it here. A friend recently used my n3dsxl to host download play with his r4 flashcart (i'm not into piracy). Is there any chance that the other DSs involved in download play remembered, in some way, that the game hosted from my ds was not legitimate and then report it to Nintendo? I'm really afraid of a possible ban, I'd be devastated. Thanks in advance!

The download play binary that is sent to the receiving (3)DSes has its header signed by Nintendo to confirm its authenticity. If anyone tries to modify it, the (3)DS would refuse to launch it because the signature is wrong. The only reason it works at all from an R4 is that it's identical to what would be sent from a retail cart--so no, the receiving DSes can't tell they ran software from a flash card--if there was any way to tell, it wouldn't have even worked.

But, aren't headers unique to a particular ROM? If they are, couldn't Nintendo identify headers from illicit ROMs? I thought that was one why you could get banned using public headers online, though I'm probably completely wrong.

You're thinking of 3DS flashcards, which (to varying extents) do emulate an actual gamecard - and this has nothing to do with how (3DS-mode) download play works (a digital application, not a physical game, is installed to the ctrnand of the receiving consoles and run), which in turn has nothing to do with DS-mode download play which works completely in RAM

  • x65943 @ x65943:
If your throat closes, putting oxygen in your mouth will not solve anything - as you will be introducing oxygen prior to the area of obstruction
  • JuanMena @ JuanMena:
    Just kiss me Kyle.
  • x65943 @ x65943:
You either need to be intubated to bypass obstruction or create a stoma inferior to the the area of obstruction to survive
  • x65943 @ x65943:
"Just kiss me Kyle." And I thought all the godreborn gay stuff was a smear campaign

Seems like, your PSU was waiting for a partner.
  • JuanMena @ JuanMena:
    Keep them both
separated or you'll have more PSUs each year.
  • K3N1 @ K3N1:
Well one you insert one PSU into the other one you get power
