I'm about to buy PSP Battery service tool from Datel and it turns the battery into a battery that will boot up service mode ( PSP Currently Bricked). I was wondering since its already in service mode and I can put the files on it, then what would I need the magic memory stick for?

Battery Service Tool

It is required for the process to work, as it works like this IIRC:
1. Pandora's Battery causes the system software to be read off of the Memory Stick
2. System software is read and than using a homebrew program, the new system software is flashed to the flash memory in the PSP

Without the MMS, it will never get past step 1. Don't buy a new MMS, you can make one using your existing one, use it with the Pandora's Battery, and reformat it in 10-15 minutes flat.

Also, you should know that you need a PSP with a CFW to create the MMS.
And I wouldn't suggest you to buy the datel tool. Since you need a hacked PSP to create the MMS, use the same PSP to convert your battery into a pandora. Then reconvert it to a normal one. You'll save 20$

What im getting out of this is, I need the magic memory stick in order to flash the firmware onto it. I can make this magic memory stick without a cfw PSP correct? Does it have to be a certain firmware? My PSP is bricked and it was running 2.80 (No cfw) if I boot service mode would I be able to do anything?
