So I have an o3ds with a9lh and Luma3ds, and I want to improve game speeds with Retroarch. I've read that using cia versions of the emulators allows for kernel hax, but I don't know what that means exactly. Is there something I have to do to get optimal performance from the emulators, or is kernel hax something that kick in automatically once I have the cia installed?

You already have kernel access and I'm assuming you're using the emulators as 3DSX, right?
