ROM Hack Question about hacking saves

A friend of mine was wondering if someone could clarify how to read/write from and to NDS backup media so that the saves can be hacked.
In truth its for GBA save hacking purposes because all that he has currently is a GBA trainer that takes up the slot.
He wants to be able to dump to the WRAM and then write it to the unused part of the NDS save.
 
I really don't understand what your trying to describe here. If you want to unlock something in the game just download a save file and if you need a cheat thee are ways to use them.
 
If you want to dump your gba save to file onto your slot1, you will need the gba backup tool:

You can also restore the save after you hack it, still requires a computer to edit. I haven't seen a homebrew hex editor.

The backup tool doesn't support EEPROM save types, you can look up if the game your dumping uses EEPROM for the save type here:
