Hacking Question about a Stolen PS3

So I just found out that my friend's house was broken into and his PS3 was stolen. He deactivated it and changed his password, but one thing I just thought about was the internet. Just in case if the guy is a hacker, is it possible to get hack into his internet since the router information is on there?

Should I tell him to change his router just in case? Or is it impossible to get that information from a PS3?

Not in the least bit possible. For that information, he would need the external IP. At the worst, he should change his wifi information.

The only potential issue I can think of is if the thief is living next door to your friend, and his router has the default admin password.

So he is pretty much completely safe unless they are a neighbor? He really doesnt have to worry about that at all? Should he change his password just in case? Would that make a difference?

I wouldn't. If the thief accesses the network, then your friend will know if it was a neighbor. Then he could eventually recover his PS3.

Theifs are usually dumb. Theifs are people who usually never went to college or dropped out of school (which is why they are stealing) so the chances of them having that knowledge is pretty slim.

Maybe him getting DDoS, but I don't think the PS3 shows the private IP just the public IP in settings. That's as simple as it can get. He probably isn't that smart.

Either could be a good idea. The only way he could know the password is if he brought the PS3 close enough to connect. Although I suggest you don't change anything for the reason @zfreeman said.

Thats a good point. But the possibility of the dude getting into it far away does exist if he really knows what hes doing? Because in that case I think he might want to change it.

Lol no. If this guy wanted to steal his credit information he would've done so. Physically stealing means he is too dumb to actually do that or else he would. I doubt he would come back.

Cuz if the possibilty of him hacking is there from further away, he will change it. If not, he will keep it as is in case he comes back. But does that one percent chance exist?

*Sigh* Yes the chance exists, but it most likely won't happen and as long as the guy never comes back he is completely safe. Hell even if the guy comes back he probably still can't do anything
