ROM Hack Query on 3DS cfw

hey peeps, im thinking of cfw modding my 3DS XL on 9.2.0-20E and am wanting to know 2 things
1) can i use a micro sd in a normal sd card to do it with
2) what is the best method/cfw to use for a 1st timer on 3ds
