If managed to get the monster hunter new 3ds xl in an unopened box, since it was a launch model, it should have 9.0 or 9.2 firmware right?

you can always check its serial number, which is usually also on a sticker on the box

No, this thing was never with 9.0! It only came with 9.2 or the latest ones with 9.6.

But is there really a differnce between 9.0 and 9.2 when you are hacking?

Not really, but 9.2 is the limit for complete freedom of hacking. So choose considered because the MH4U 3ds can become the firmware 9.6, too.

Managed to get a majoras mask one that started with 4009, so I should be golden.
