Just how safe is coldboot?

I'm not really talking about the installation.
(I know any modding like this has a risk of bricking.)

And I've heard it works great for a ton of people,
But I also heard some people say games can get 'unregistered' after a long period of time, and they'd require you to sign in? (or something like that)
I've also heard that formatting can cause issues.
Is there any easy way to remove it if needed? And is there any fail safe or backup for if the installed DS game gets corrupted somehow?

Would it be better to wait for some kind of recovery mode?

In short is there anything to really worry about, after you have it installed?
---
Edit:
Thanks for all the replies!

I took the plunge, and it worked out great!

It also looks like if you just boot with hackchiFW, (no mocha)
You can even boot without the SD card in! (one less thing to worry about.)

it's pretty safe. don't format with it installed or you'll brick. you can uninstall it with the installer. I've done that before, and it's painless. it's unlikely that the ds game will become corrupted without the rest of the flash also.

Very controversal topic! You're going to get mixed answers as some people enjoy it such as myself, while others are completely afraid of it but havent even tried it themselves and make claims. It's actually super easy to manage once you have it installed, in fact you can go about your day with wiiu hacks like nothing happened. You just have to udnerstand the 4 CBHC rules.
1. Don't format the system
2. Don't delete the user account that bought the DS VC
3. Don't install the same DS VC in an attempt to play that game again
4. Don't install haxchi over CBHC without uninstalling CBHC first

Very simple rules, and if you have guests or family members, you can easily add parental controls on other user accounts to restrict data management so they can't format the system. CBHC naturally protects you from deleting it or moving it to USB so that's nothing to worry about. It's extremely easy to install CBHC as well as abiding by its rules.
To uninstall CBHC all you have to do is run the installer and press B to uninstall. Thats it. Then you can install haxchi over the DS VC and carry on with that.

I myself use BOTH coldboot haxchi AND regular haxchi, using two differnet DS VC. I can get the benefit of both of them. I have button shortcuts on my haxchi setup so I can quick boot homebrew I mostly use.

Don't listen to the fear mongers. You'd have to be really stupid to earn your brick. In all wiiu brick cases, you have to do something really idiotic.

However CBHC is only for those who understand its uses and know why they need it. Don't just set it up without considering if you needed it or not. I myself benefit from it as I can load Wii VC injects easily and when it returns to the wiiu menu I can select another.

You can uninstall it. If worried just use haxchi. Almost same deal except you start the ds game u installed it over and it can reset you back to home menu as if you have cbhc installed except you don’t. And once system off it’s back to stock
Then just start game again to have sig patched system
Signing in of game I never heard of. I’m guessing that means ur nnid and yeh u don’t want to mess with that. Legit ds game was bought using it and the game is tied to that id. So u also cannot format because u will not beable to startup without it

With just haxchi it’s installed over the game perminant unless u delete the game which u can re download the game with nnid u used to buy it and reinstall haxchi over it

Cbhc is also installed over the ds game but it is more perminant as I said before

you can prevent formatting with parental controls?

you may be able to use the same game for both haxchi and cbhc. if you move the game, then you'll have two copies of it. that's why my cbhc's image didn't change.
