you dont need a hardmode to restore a nand backup if your ds is still working and you have access to the gateway menu, right?

Were would you find the one for your firmware?

Yes you can restore nand backup from gateway menu. Enter the downgrade menu while holding up to restore a NAND backup

You would have to download a firmware patch from 'that 3ds site with isos' > Find the right title > place it on msd > remove the title from 3ds with title manager (FBI) > install correct title. If you were to screw this up, you could brick your 3ds.

Nintendo's servers.

3DNUS no longer works, Nintendo took down the older firmwares from their servers.
I didn't mention manually updating the mSET, since it's quite a bit riskier for a beginner. Also figured it was basically in the same group as updating the firmware.
